Just a thought, my brother got a 04 5.4 3v engine out of an f-150, has a bad head but runs still, guy bought a new one, and let him have it. He said he has no plans for it right now, I know anythings possible, but what all would be required for the swap, anybody?

it fits, but its tall. very tall. do not want.

here is a lightning motor is a 2nd gen.

not to mention the weight of that boat anchor iron block 5.4 hanging out over the front wheels.

That looks pretty rediculous, did the guy plan on never using a hood or making some huge ass hood scoop for it?

Wow, that lightning motor is huge....it's hard to resist 365 lbs of torque though lol. Did I mention, damn that motor is huge!!!

I WANT! lol

i would drive the :q:q:q:q out of that! just saying lol

The 5.4 3v is a boat anchor in stock form

You would think that a 5.4 would be better but a built cobra motor is better. Those iron blocks have lots of torque though.

A better engine choice would be a 5.0 or the 6.2L...but same issues of clearance with the 6.2L but i do believe it is actually aluminum.

A lot of patience and fabrication skills and accepting the fact that they don't have the top end like a 4V does. :p

If your thinking about going 5.4, then why don't you just go with the Intech 5.4 4v engine from a navigator. It aluminum (correct me if I am wrong), which makes it lighter, and it produces more power (300hp/355tq). However, you still wont have a top end like the 4.6.

Hell if you reallly want to do it big, get a 5.4 from a Cobra R (385hp/385tq or even better a GT500 (500hp/480tq) :gr_devil:.

IMO any of them are not worth it. I was just put a blower on your 4.6 and call it a day .

Yes a 5.4 is taller then a 4.6 but the L motor has an eaton on top with the intake plenum on top of the blower making it much taller. I still wouldn't swap a 3V 5.4 over a 4V 4.6 though.

true. my picture my have been a bit misleading.
but regardless, with as little extra room we have now, i can't imagine putting in anything larger.

stroker crank and bigger pistons = 5.3 liters. close enough.

Ideas ideas. :D Just have to save up some money and go work the street corners. :D

And lots more power. ;)

The N/A 5.4L 3V is anemic compared to a stroked big bore 4V.

I guess, the 4v shall stay in, and be king!! You guys are persuasive lol.:p

Bigger pistons (meaning big bore 3.700) is super pricey to get into an alum block(sleeves). You can do what driller did and use Ford cast iron "boss" block or what ever they call it but thats $$ right there.
