I'm thinkin it's time for some general maintenance

I have the bushings in the trunk where they have been since I bought them. Also have 2 brand new Lowers from Supercoupe.com but my stockers didn't seem to be the problem, it was the bushings.

Now it is just a lot of laziness that is keeping me from putting them in :(

If you have a buddy with a lift, use it, it will make your job a lot easier, those bushings really suck but since you have lowers already, you'll need to take those out anyways, which will make them less of a pain.

Well thats the thing, I watched my friend do it on a similar Ford car and it was in a shop with a lift. However that person is not on my good side as of late so I am gonna end up doing it in my driveway.

As far as I'm concerned it can't be anywhere near as bad as when I swapped my 4:10 center diff and a 93' drive shaft in.

Nope definitely not as hard as that. My problem was only 1 bolt doing the whole job. Passengers side lower control arm -> strut rod. The strut rod would spin while trying to get it loose. Heated it, soaked in pb for weeks before hand. Had em replace it with the impact gun while doing my alignment.

You can use an adjustable wrench on the control/strut rod. Then as it spins the wrench will lock up against something and prevent spinning. At least, thats what I did.

As they said though, its not a tough job. Doing it all at once is of course best, but I had at one time just done the control rod bushings. There is enough play in the LCA to push it and the knuckle out of the way to get the bushing on. Not easy, but doable.

holy flapkacks,i have a little rattle starting in my high mileage front, but nothing like that, whats it do when you drive it?

It grabs cracks and gives you some rattling when you go over rough roads. Plus you get a bit of a thump when you get on the brakes quick. Also the one tire that I was kicking is wearing big time on the outside but it came off my WRX and it was already worn hard on the outside edge.

Just wanted to use up the rest of the tires so I threw them on the front. I really have to put those damn bushings in one of these days before it gets to cold :shifty:

mine also does that too, the car seems to jump around when hitting large bumps. i know i pretty much need a rebuild at 116,000. but thats my winter job.

I think you need to state with cleaning those wheels. lol.

Yeah I get that comment a lot :D
I got some stuff that I spray on then wipe off with a paper towel but I'm to lazy right now to do it. Heck I gotta put those damn bushings in before it gets to cold out to do it :(

What kind of wheels are those?

EBAY Bullit rims for the Mark VIII.

Said Made in CHINA on the back of them and they are made of Steel Chrome plated. Fairly tough rims I gotta say cause I hit a curb on Rt202 super hard and only bent the lips a minimal amount.

Was it the front passengers tire? Could explain some of your problems no?

Yes it is the front pass tire but how would that explain the problem? They both have the same play cause the bushings are pretty much gone.

Mine did the same thing but not as bad, Hitting the wall is never good. Still strut rod bushings but hitting the wall wasn't good.

My 96 did that until last weekend. I wient to Murray's Auto and bought 2 new upper control arms, both lower ball joints, Ball joint to strut arm bushings and lower control arm bushins. Had it aligned and guess what, problem went away. There was so much slop in the upper arms viagra couldn't keep them up.

When I got my car from my friend @133k on the clock it came with a outter tie rod setup. When I took it to the shop to be aligned they told me the pass upper A assembly was shot and put one in. Of course they charged me full price for the damn thing!

So I have put 60k on it since then and I hope I don't have to replace anything else besides the bushings. Of course that wont be the case with my luck

This post answered my question about the tire wear and noise... When I received the car the old tires were worn more than the rears on the outside. I thought it was just an alignment issue.

Along with stiff steering, noise over cracked roads are an issue.

I was going to have it aligned since my new tires were put on last month. I peeked at the lower bushing and it does seem worn.

Do I have to replace the Lower Control Arms too? WHat symptoms reflect my need for LCA replacement??? <---------------

Do I just replace the LCA Bushing or go for the whole Control arm since it comes with Bushing and Ball Joint for each side???????????????

The issue here is money, and as stated.. you're going to take the arm off anyway might as well right?

or do I just replace the bushings to rid of noise, pull, and drastic tire wear?

graciass.

Well here is my thought for now. I watched it done in a shop and he didn't have to replace the LCA's. There for no need for a realignment and it was cheaper that way. I have the bushings and new LCA's right now but if I put the LAC's on I will need to get it aligned :(

The LAC comes with a bushing and a ball joint but does not come with strut rod bushings and I have to do a quick check to make sure my LAC's are still good as of yet :shifty:

I just can't really fathom the thought that all of this: Outside Tire wear, Wheel play, rattling, and road grabbing is caused by strut rod bushings!

then again, what do i know about suspension.

Would this Moog kit work? I've read the LCA T-bird would suffice for Marks,

Likewise for Strut Rod Kit?

This wouldn't happen to be a culprit of Hard Steering/non-straight returning turns would it? or is that still just Rack and Pinion.

So anyway I snapped some pix of my front tire wear for now.

Now this tire was very worn in the first place so it is not all the car wearing it out but it did have a complete tread on it some 2 or 3 thousand miles ago :(

Then one of my rear tire but you can't really see how steamroller wide it is...
