I have an '03 LSV8 in Ceramic White, which looks oh-so-good in the New Jersey slush...My question is about the durability of the paint. It seems it's particularly vulnerable to small stone chips...moreso than other cars I've owned, even other Ford products. Looking closely, the paint around the chips has a dimpled look like soft clay. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yeah, I'm in NJ too and our Auburn Red Metallic 00 isn't holding up too well. Well, the stone chips and door dings and fokkers who insist on scratching and running into the car while it's parked.

Well....I'm completely anal about protecting my car. If I have to walk the entire length of the parking lot, I will not put my car in the middle of all those freakin' mini vans. Out side of the unavoidable chips from what's in the air ahead of me, my car is in perfect condition. I guess that's why the little nicks in the front are so annoying.

Man, what part of NJ are you in?!?!?! Granted, my wife drives the car and is a retail manager, but she parks at the END of the lot and it never fails that some jackhole has to park right up on our sh*t.

Hopefully, next year I'm going to get the paintless dent repair done for the 5 or so door dings and have the paint touched up on the nose.

I also have an '03 LS in Ceramic White. I've not observed any problems with my paint (I live in Connecticut). After 3 years and 38K miles, obviously I have a few minor chips and scratches, but nothing severe. Perhaps its the stones they use in NJ (I'm not kidding, they may be bigger with more mass to cause more damage).

god minivans are the BEST things to park next to. Front doors are short and back doors don't "swing"...

I've got to admit to being the worst....far beyond anal....I park in the NEXT parking lot over, but like you said...some DIL parks right beside me....guess if you if you can't have a Lincoln, you gotta park all up on one! lolol

I've got two little ones, on each side, watch out for the pantiless paint job place.....the shop here was just not accommodating.

It isn't the actual minivan as much as it's the a-holes that drive them. They're always swinging shopping carts, baby carraiges and bicycles in and out of those things with complete disregard for the cars they've parked next to.

The worst is when you can watch it happen. I got two parking lot dings in my last car (Infiniti G20), and both times it happened right after I parked and a car full of screaming kids parked next to me. Immediately after the car stops, the doors swing open and POW, right into the side of my car. The mother, who is usually screaming too, just says "Sorry mister", while I stand there seething.

I would have made use of my camera phone and small claims court. Why should you pay for the dent repair? That individual damaged your car as surely as if she backed into it in the parking lot.

This was PCP (Pre Camera Phone). Anyway, its nothing a rocket launcher couldn't take care of!

I had some jerk go out of his or her way to put a shopping cart next to my car, which I obviously had intentionally parked so far away from everyone else. What a looser! I drive crap and I have nothing better to do but mess with other people. Nice life.

The PDR guy I use up here is awesome.

My favorite "catch" from years ago was watching a fat middle aged woman driving some battlewagon who was too lazy to get out of her car to move the shopping cart blocking a parking spot. I stood there watching in disbelief as she slowly pushed it along with her front bumper right towards my restored MG. I walked up to her open window and yelled "WTF DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING LADY???!!!". Damn near gave her a heart attack. It was only the thought of being arrested that restrained me from hurling that cart into her car to see how she'd like it.

You'd think these people would forget to breath and die.

Sad thing is she thinks your the crazy one. Ever heard this? "Its not like its new", Little do they now us car people treat all our cars like new. I don't care if its the 1st scratch or the 10th. You can see them coming too, 2 year old car yet all crapping lookin, "how do you keep your car so new looking" I'm not an idiot, its simple.

I guess this thread is a pet peave of mine...must be why I can't let it die. Did you ever find a nice corner-end spot in a lot where you felt reasonably secure leaving your car? You park all the way over to the side where your tires are up against the curb so as to leave the next car all the room in the world to open his door without coming close to yours and....every freakin' time...the next car doesn't pull into the middle of the spot....he's gotta park over the line within striking distnce!!!

My hood took it all this year...there are so many little flecks from a salt truck spraying five tons of salt on me!!! To make matters worse, at work there is no place to park without someone parking beside you, I check my car both sides everytime I go out to it...someone got me good right on the top of my front wheel qtr! It looks horrible!!!!

It is a major pet peever of mine!!! I've got to get the hood and ding fixed this spring!

Ric why haven't you posted in the Guys! You are a deffinate HOTTIE!!

Agree!! I think nice cars attract these people like honey attracts bees. No matter where I park, 10 min later someone is inches away with 50 open slots closer to the store.
