well not really, just preperation, i worked on my false trunk floor tonight after work. it isnt finished, but its looking good so far, i dont have much more to do now before i can start putting it all in. i want to have the system done before the meet. the floor came out nice though, once i put the box back in and some supports under the spare tire cover so it doesnt sag, i can start putting all my goodies in. the floor is light, i just used 1/8 inch hardboard from home depot. what do you think.

Looks good...should have used 1/4" or 1/2" for the floor though....

So your car will be heavier and I'll have a better chance at beating you down the track ;)

I'm going with 1/2" this time. I learned my lesson from the last system in the 94. My floor is going to start at the front of my box though and then go out to the rear. Sometimes I have had to crawl in there and I need something more solid to climb in on.

1/4 or half inch wtf? its a fake floor its not a 1 ton silverado. i dont put anything in the trunk and if i need to crawl in there, its 2 pieces, it comes out in .049930 seconds. why do you want me to fill the car up with heavy :q:q:q:q derrik, so you might have a slight chance runnin with a big dawg!!

Exactly :D

Hence why I said so I'll have a better chance at beating you down the track :shifty::D

looks good-lets see what your putting in it

I agree, 1/8 inch is too thin unless you don't plan on using the trunk for anything except holding the stereo.

With all the electronics you're adding to the car, weight is no longer a factor, imho. Make it secure and safe and don't worry about taking that Vette off the line. Your car will ride and sound better then his anyday. :)

like i said above i dont use the trunk ever. if you want to see whats going in for a system look for my 1st stereo progress thread.

lots of pics, got more done, its going very slow.

Holy crap! You are really going all out on your install! Nice work! For my teewtwr mounts I just mad a bridge and mounted them, yours looks nicer. Also you mounted the x-overs in the back? Thats a lot of wire to run but very nice looking.
You do good work Jamie.

no sunroof i hate those pieces of :q:q:q:q!

your telling me...my 3 12's with the rear deck blow through broke some type of plastic knob with a peice of metal running through it. still works for some reason....o'well..

DONT MEAN TO TAKE AWAY FROM THREAD, BUT WHILE WE TALKING SYSTEMS, I NEED HELP, IVE GONE THROUGH THREE DECK ADAPTERS, THE ONES YOU BUY FROM BEST BUY OR WHATEVER TO HOOK UP DECK, NONE FIT, I HAVE A 94 MARK, AND THE BLACK BOX LOOKING ONE THAT HAS THE SPEAKERS AND AMP PLUG JUST KEEPS KNOCKING OUT THE ACTUAL SPADES ON THESE CONNECTORS WTF:mad:

its 3:45 am i just got home, the system is finished and the car is 100% back together. i decided not the put the amp in front of the box in the trunk, but rather moved the amp and the crossovers to the backside of the box behind the rear seat. i wanted the amp visible, but if i ever needed the trunk for anything i wouldnt be able to do :q:q:q:q with it! plus now you cant see any wires at all, even if they were going to be clean, i'd rather not see any of them. when i have some time i will remove the upper back seat cushion and install a 4 inch pc fan next to the amp to keep air moving across it. my god is it loud! i'll post pics of it tomorrow i am so wiped out.

Why dont you mount the amp from the infront of the subs but fab up sum metal brakets so that is is hanging down from the top? It is easy enuff to do and will look killer. I have done it many times before. You can get the metal from Lowes.;)

Jamie, take it from me, I have 4 of the Impulse amps and I know them all too well. It should be ok for a little while but it will need that fan on the hot days. Impulses hate heat and will shut off on you so if that happens, don't freak, just cut the system off and let it cool down. They like to lay flat with the heat sinks facing upward. With what you're describing, it should be fine but 90+ outside and you cranking the volume will have it on edge.

i've installed amps in many cars (both mine and friends) in tighter spaces and they were fine...imho i wouldnt bother with the fan..Ive done atleast 30 stereo installs since i was 16....

Ive done several thousand and can tell you that an Impulse amp will overheat after 30 minutes on a day thats above 95* while driving all the speakers Jamie is. That amp will be pushing 12 voice coils and at moderate volumes will get quite hot and go into thermal protection if it does not have air moving over it.

There are many amps that you can put in a tight area with no problem but Kicker Impulse, Rockford Powers, Soundstream (old) Refrence, Nakamichi 4-channels, MTX Thunder (larger ones), larger US Amps and McIntosh all need air to keep cool. If they cant constantly recirculate air over their heat sinks then they just get too dang hot.
