If you right-click on the red "x" then choose "show image" it should work too.

You can buy it in sheets from www.ametco.com. He bought that grille from a fellow LLSOC member over a year ago. They bought a huge sheet of the perforated plastic and cut it to length for about 8 or so members. You can do the same. It's the same thing I have on my car now. What I sold or did sell was a little different than what Mike has on his car but it's basically the same idea.

No I don't but I could probably get one though. It'll have to be tomorrow before I could get to it. I'm chillin' now and the LS is tucked away for night, night! :Beer

Great thanks, I plan on ordering at least one or two full sheets so i can cut them to spec after making a template first.
Is there a particular way you suggest mounting these? I'm curious about what the directions say that may have come with the sold out lower valance plastic that is on LSK. I don't really want to 'twistie tie' anything down so i'm hoping someone has a good idea!

Thanks

From what I remember what one member did with his LS was use the zip ties to secure it to the front of the regular bumper.

Sure that could work or i can just sell you one of the pieces i make for whatever it cost to make... once i have a template i've got a few friends that will cut them all in a row for me...

I'm probably guessing to put a thin edge/weather striping around the outside after the cut in case some of the holes are half in-tact after being cut into shape.

Today i need to find the bore size and measurements of the mclaren grille so I can order the right piece of plastic... if you have that data i could order the sheets in moments! (or perhaps anyone else who may have that info) I'd consider making 5 or 6 of these lower valances at one time.

Otherwise probably later tonight after work i'll measure it up when i get home

Here are the dimensions you need for the perforated plastic:
diam38.gif

  • 3/8" diameter
  • 9/16" staggered centers
  • 4 holes per sq. inch
  • 40% open area
  • 3/16" thick

I think the price was about $120 a sheet, plus a crapload of money for shipping. The lower grille is not just a rectangular piece, it has to be cut to take into consideration the compound curve of the front bumper area. I had a cardboard pattern, but hucked it. I suggest that before you go hacking up the perforated plastic, you make a template first and try that. Mine is attached with black zip-ties and you can't see them at all. Luckily, I bought two pieces when the GB went around... one for my car now, one for the LSE front end when it's painted.

Exhaust tip, single in, double out.

Hedman Hedders Exhaust tips, P/N 17101. About $18 each. The red looks good with the tail lights. Just cut the length to fit and welded them on to my flowmasters after I installed the rear valance.

DUAL OUTLET with RESONATOR TIP

2" inlet, 2 3/8" outlet, 9" length.

I also painted my COP covers and added another set of the chrome lincoln letters to the covers. That looks sweet too.

Oh yeah! I remember that. That did look cool. Post a pic of it if you can.

Here's a pic of the COP covers... ( I know, the engine bay is a sty)

Great guys,

I've actually got a quote into them now and am working with Greg Mitrovich on it.

I'm awaiting my prices back .. if we can cut 3 or 4 out of a sheet or two i'll order 1 sheet for sure today... tonight i'll be making a template..

If someone has a faster way to make a plastic template (not cardboard) do it and send it to me.

From there i could cut them to spec... My only downfall in this process is my time, so anything to speed it up i'll take the cost of the sheets and making each one after we have a template.

Otherwise i'll do a cardboard one fit tonight, then transfer it to a thinner plastic so i have an exact cut i can hold up to the valance and ensure it covers everything.... cardboard can get hokey if its all jaded up the edges.

lemmie know guys!

Ok i got the quotes and some shipping prices... Wasn't exactly what i was hoping to see but isn't necessarily bad either ... seeing as how long and wide the valance is quite a few could be cut off one sheet than i thought which is good.

I've got a meeting Thursday with a guy to give the specs to. I hopefully can get this same product locally made off the same thickness 3/16th plastic and with the same diameters on hole bore, distance and amount.

i'll keep this thread updated as i get info, probably next update will be this thursday night after i meet with the plastics shop.

The wheels, and the upper and lower grilles are Duplicolor's Wheel Paint - "Graphite" and clearcoat.

http://www.duplicolor.com/products/wheel.html

i feel for ya. On my last car i painted my wheels with the same paint. I took a better part of a day and the quality was damn near professional, anyways it looked awesome. However, you have to look out for people working on your car. Anytime you change the tires, get tire work done, etc the paint along the edges will get knocked off or become softened. Then the next time you wash the car it will just start coming off *owned* I did a touch up job but it just didn't last. In the end, after about a year, i regreted painting my wheels in the first place.

Two plus years with only minor chips inside the lug wells from me taking the wheels on/off the car. I figure that if I keep the car, I'll have to sand them down a bit and recoat them again in another year.

im in how much do u think youd be charging. do u have to have the lse front or is this for the sport?

Depending on cost provided OhioLS or I can find this material cheaper than the place we've been talking about i'd only charge whatever it costs to make and ship to your door.

Lets hope we can find a good supplier between one of us, i've got some places and OhioLS says hes got a few, i'm sure we can pull together and make something happen because the other place is just ENTIRELY to expensive even for shipping..

Like i mentioned earlier, i'll be meeting with a plastics company thursday to hopefully have some info if not a deal set for this material.

The model it would be made for would be the sport.
