Don't ya just love the drive-by posters that have no idea who people are or what they stand for.

What part of "The Magic Negro" do you have a problem with?

I thought it was politically incorrect to use the term black.
I know it was politically correct to use the term "African-American" but the guy was born in Hawaii.
How bout the 'N' word? That certainly doesn't work.
Or is YOUR problem that he is not 'black' enough.
And I won't even touch 'Uncle Tom' because we know who his pastor is.:D

Well?????

Obviously I can't speak for Obama but, there is something in all these years I have never been able to understand.
The word :q:q:q:q:q:q.
Very many blacks use that word when addressing one another.
Why is it ok for them to call each other :q:q:q:q:q:q, and all hell breaks loose when a white calls a black a :q:q:q:q:q:q.
Go figure.
Bob.

Frankly I don't feel that word is a bad word, and should not have been blocked.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that the wword being blocked was what balcks have been called for many, many years.
That isn't going to change just because someone decided to call it the "N" word.
Bob.

Who came up with the use of the term "Political Correctness"? Are any of us running for a political office...then I'll use any term I want to and not follow the minority on this one.

Monster

When I said "A little racist, are we?" it was in reference to the article that I heard about some time back(never read it). Shagdrum pointed me to the article so that I could read it. And Bob Hubbard (WTF)??? How did we get from discussing an article, to the blatant use of said censored word?:shifty:

This posting is how we, and I in particular got to the sensored word.

Whatever, honkey. :D

When I said "A little racist, are we?" it was in reference to the article

But I thought all liberals weren't racists.

I have no comment on the article. I just thought it was funny that Rush had a 'Puff the Magic Dragon' song and it fit the LA TIMES article to a 'T'.

I am NOT happy that the MSM has tried to seeep the whole race thing under the rug. I think it is a discussion that liberals really need to have with themselves so they can better understand all those feelings they keep bottled up inside.

And Bob Hubbard, it bothers me too that blacks can call themselves that name without retribution but if a white uses it,

The exact definition of what the word truely means

1)a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, etc.

2)Used as a disparaging term for a member of any socially, economically, or politically deprived group of people: "Gun owners are the new :q:q:q:q:q:qs . . . of society" (John Aquilino).

So beyond the fact that people coined the term for blacks back in the day, it was origonally a term for anyone. White black asian purple people eater whatever, you can all be :q:q:q:q:q:qs

Stang99x

You seem a little happy using that word:shifty: Anyway, it is true that African Americans use that term to greet one another, but there is still a lot of racism in the south and lots of closed minded ppl who don't want to hear what the other race has to say. Oxymoron-ic it is really. We'd be ready to "beat that a$$" if a white man said that word, but exchange hand shakes and smiles when we say it. (WTF) I am not excused from this myself. BUT I do work with nothing but "white folks" (lol) who have an open mind and give me their views along with listening to mine. Like I said, racism is strong in the south still, it's just that most are afraid to speak about it. Me being a 20 year old "Black Man" in Memphis, I have it HARD, especially due to the fact that I'm trying to "Do Right" i.e., no kids, I'm the youngest CNC Machinist I know (lol), I'm keeping out of trouble, and...I Drive a Lincoln LS:p I'm part of the Elite!!!

What I don't understand is why black people are called african americans. I knew alot of people that took offense to this in the military. Everyone on the planet started out in the motherland so everyone would be african. But black folk don't call white folk european americans, they call them white. I did have the pleasure of meeting a couple true africans while in the service. Very nice, no hostility, little language barrier to over come. But the ironic thing was the blacks didn't care for the africans, and the africans didn't care for the blacks. Like the ricans and mexicans. Hell black people were here before my family was and they don't call me polish american. And as far as the n word, well they came to detroit to bury it, had a whole truck load of t-shirts made up and you know what happened? A couple of black guys stole the truck. Thats right they stole the n word back.

2 things in my life stand out to me right now. Once in mississippi while we were on leave I held the door for a elder black man out of respect because he was older. I said hello and his eyes got huge and looked like he was gonna have a heart attack. I asked tate what was up with that. He told me they still don't get along very well down their.

On the other hand I stopped at a gas station in mississippi (jackson) on the way out to get something to drink. I didn't realize they had black gas stations and white gas stations. When I came out their was a cop sitting next to my jeep and he asked me if I was ok. I kinda looked at him and said yes. Then I noticed the spit on my jeep seat. He said wait her. He went in and got the guy that did it and made him clean it up.

I wem to school with a couple of black kids, but we didn't call them black, we called them kids or friends. As I got older I found out my dad was racist because of his dad, but he never said one word to me or my friends because he knew it wasn't right for me to learn what he did. It's wierd what the world teaches you as you grow up.

Ground Zero

It's Polish Americans (lol) that give white ppl a GOOD name. :D It really boils down to your location and your upbringing. We could get along if we decide to let this :bsflag: go. But I guess there's always gonna be someone here to start something.

Personally I don't know you or anything about you but for whatever reason I am proud of what you are accomplishing because I do understand the plight of the young black man in America. You should be proud of youself as well, as it seems you justifiably are. Good luck in the future and stay out of trouble.

I little story...I live in an mostly all-white neighborhood although my neighbor owns gas stations and is from Pakistan. (little side note, I plow their drivway because he forces his wife to do it and she can't. Something about the way they do things.)

My kid was selling his 'harley' bike if you know what those are. A 'colored' gentleman rolls up in a late model Caddy. Looks at the bike and wants to negotiate with me. I say its my kids bike, work it out with him. He asks if I have other things to sell, kind of like he was scoping the place out. I will admit to feeling a little uncomfortable as the garage is a treasure trove of 'fenceable' items. LOL.

Anyway, they agree on price. There is no way the guy is going to fit the bike in the car without scratching crap up so I offer to deliver the bike. So low and behold, we only have to drive a half-mile down the road into another subdivision and here is his swanky 4 bedroom house. His kid comes out and the dad says he just bought him this bike and does he like it. Kid doesn't say much but I can see his eyes. It was a good deal.

Long story short, here is a 'black' guy making a living and living with 'white' folks. Bet you his closet 'brother' is 5 miles away. He doesn't see color. He saw the opportunity for a better life and a better neighborhood. The guy is a good man.

btw, the guy bought the bike for a lot less than he should of, considering I paid for the damn thing and my kid rode it all of 3 times. But I just told my kid he left some money on the table in that deal and left it at that.

Racism is not unique to any race. It is prevelant everywhere. It's human nature, like it or not. We all must guard against it in our own minds. And a word of advice, just don't use the n-word, period. Never. Strike it from your vocabulary. It's a highly volatile word and you never know when it'll blow up in your face. And if you use that word, it will be just a matter of time before it gets you in trouble. Call an individual what they want to be called, in regards to race. Be polite about it. It's all an individual thing. And if we all show sensitivity to the issue, race relations will improve for everyone (the pass it on philosophy).
