I have 2000 LS V8 recently my back speaker began buzzing when I hit a bump in the road hit another bump it stops. Well at first I thought it was a busted speaker but I noticed when I have the car turned off but have the radio on it does not do it. Any suggestions? I am ready to take it to a repair shop but if its something that could easily be fixed I would like to fix it myself.

Thanks in advance

Im haveing the same problem. After some investigation I found that it is caused by a the rear subs amp having a bad ground. I havent fixed mine yet but Im gessing the options are something like either repaceing the amp or trying to fix the cable harness that runs into the side of it. Im not sure how yours got damaged but mine was caused by the idoit who installed my aftermarket amp. When I had looked at it origianly after being installed, I had thought he had mounted the line out converter piece behind the harness and never thought twice about it. When I looked at it two years later (when the problem started) I found that he had really just jammed it in there and it was pushing down on the harness. overtime it finally bent the piece enuff that it started grounding out when I hit bumps and jiggled it. Try turning the radio on and and playing with the harness to see if you can recreate the problem.

Good luck

Grounding probably isn't the trick???

I've had this problem going on two years now. I've also posted on it before with no success. I seriously doubt it's the ground. You can try it and let me know if it works. I've regrounded mine several times and even tried some expensive monster cable. I've installed many amps in my days. You'll only notice this problem when you hit a bump or on any hot day or after the radio has been running for a long time - correct? It usually only sparks up in the summer. A quick fix is to pull over and give the center of the amp a lite bump with your fist (with the car on). This will only last until the next bump in the road.

I have a little electrical background and a colleague of mine gave me a good opinion. He believes it's a loose circuit actually inside of the amp that needs to be re-soddered? It sounds legit to me but I haven't found the time to pull it down and check yet. But I'm pretty sure that it's the culprit. You'll be regrounding that amp forever. Believe me. I've been waiting patiently for someone else to run into this problem. You won't notice it on cold days or in the winter.

Thanks for all the input. I have tried grounding but no help. I am not sure it is a summer thing but I purchased this car in Feb and it didnt start til around April so you are probally right. I guess I will drive around trying to avoid bumps and maybe buy me a light bat to swing back there every once in a while to stop it.

Again Thanks

Sorry, Double posted, see below. How do I delete one of my posts anyway?

I've had this problem intermittantly year round, just haven't gotten around to pulling the moulded plastic sub box to look for the problem. Agood thump on the rear deck usually fixes it 'till the next bump. The buzzing occurs with the audio system on or off, that's why I suspect it is a ground.

Mine Only messes up when the radio is on. I can turn it of for a second and then turn it back on and it goes away. When I jiggle the harness I can see the messed up wire spark inside the amp through the gap near the harness, then it makes the buzzing again. Im starting to think that these rear amps is are peices of crap with shoddy wireing. I never noticed it being affected by the heat and etc tho...

That's interesting. I've never noticed a spark before. I'll have to look for that. I haven't been driving my LS for a very long time now so I forgot all about the problem until it was posted. Since I've driven the car last the temperature has been scortching. So I know as soon as I crank it up ... ummmmmm....

Oh yeah, one more question. When your amps buzz does it trick the open door light too? I just remembered that. Sometimes when it does act up in cooler weather it also causes the door warning light. That's what leans me more to suspect an open circuit condition.

Does anybody know a good replacement amp that can swap easily with the factory one? When I bought this car I told myself that I wouldn't fool with the audio system but I may just have too now.

had this problem last summer, then it went away, came back for about 3 week in the winter and is back full time now. it drives me insane! anyone have a fix for this?

I had the same problem in my 2000 LS. It turned out to be a bad ground on the amp.

It's a bad ground, and if I remember I think theres an issue with the rear sub deck speakers blowing, even tho they shouldn't. I re-wired the rear deck when I wired up my in-line RCA converter
