Hey guys, I have an 03 LS with the 8 speaker system (4 door speakers, two center console speakers, and rear deck subs). I installed a Pioneer double DIN DVD player this summer and have been pretty happy with it. The subs in the rear deck are ok but even though I tried to be really careful and not try to get them to put out too much volume I blew them. Have any of you replaced them with the CDT brand 6x9 subs? Im not looking to rattle the mirrors or anything but it would be nice to get something with slightly more punch to them than the stock speakers, I plan on running them off the factory amp. Also any reccomendations on door speakers? I will just be running those off the head unit. Anybody ever replaced those center channel speakers? Probably not worth the time but I thought I'd ask. Im mostly just looking for nicer sound quality that can play just a little louder than the factory stuff before the SQ starts to degrade. Thanks.

Thanks joeger, I haven't been in there to look yet, but do these use the regular Ford speaker connectors? I like to buy those connectors that plug into to OE connector on one end and then have the flat terminals for aftermarket speakers on the other. Seems to keep it nice and clean. Also any trouble with those being full range speakers being used as a sub? I wouldn't think it would be an issue other than the tweeter just isn't being used.

Yes, there's no advantage to them being full range, but there's no apparent harm either.
Looked like the standard connector to me. I just removed the connectors from the "blown" subs and soldered them on the new ones. In my case, they weren't really blown, the foam had rotted.

Any recommendations on 6x8's for the doors? Also, I'm assuming the center channel speakers can't be replaced, at least not very easily.

the center speakers don't really do anything that's why they were removed when thx optimized the system.

Well you could try what I did with the deck and drop in two 8" subs... I went with Kicker Comp D's so I could run them at 4ohms on the factory amp, then just changing the wiring later for 2ohms when I upgrade the amp. Let me know if you want more info
