Speaking of Racist comments - Where's the Outrage over this?

When you guys get done jerking each other off, answer me this:

If Lott's statement didn't sound "racist", then WHY did Lott himself acknowledge that it sounded "racist" by offering this apology?
Because he'd been convicted by the media and eager Democrats and he was in a struggle to save his life. And, to further ad to his struggle, opportunistic Republicans also seized on the moment to oust him from power too, making the situation even more dire for him.

Talk about "engaging in mental contortions", you guys are a joke.
He said "A poor choice of words conveyed to some the impression that I embraced the discarded policies of the past. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I apologize to anyone who was offended by my statement."

I don't see any contortion at all. "A poorly phrased comment gave some opportunitst liberals the opportunity to say I embrace segregation. Nothing could be father from the truth, and I apologize to anyone who was offended."

Johnny, we all expect you to be wrong, but at least be honest.

I think you must be jerking yourself off while trying to read and type. That would explain how you totally invent your silly assertions.

Nowhere did Lott "acknowledge that it sounded "racist". He apologized for offending anyone, but I still have yet to hear anyone in particular complain that he offended them.

Interesting, because Biden's remarks have been repudiated by Indian groups, proving that he did in fact offend.

Furthermore, he has yet to apologize in any way, proving that he is a loser and a hypocrite.

But don't let our facts get in the way of your ranting, Johnny. Go right ahead and make a fool out of yourself.

Sounds like someone is jealous of another's manual dextery/mutil-tasking abilities.

Actually, I have no need of such abilities, since I have a good woman and can therefore use both sets of fingers on the keyboard. ;)

Bush calls Lott comments 'offensive'

Even your hero GW BuSh called Lott's comments offensive........

http://archives.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/12/12/lott.comment/

"Recent comments by Sen. Lott do not reflect the spirit of our country," Bush said to loud applause. "He has apologized and rightly so. Every day that our nation was segregated was a day our nation was unfaithful to our founding ideals."

To which I would also applaud. With Lott's apology, I'm willing to forgive him (although I'm still skeptical on how sincere Lott was due to his history). But an apology (or clarification, whatever you want to call it) was still warranted none the less.

I don't think that making a joke about an ethnic group necessarily makes you a "racist." I don't have any reason to think that Biden is a racist........

Thank you for at least being honest about that.

But the comment he made, perpetuating a stereotype of all Indians working in convience stores, was deemed offensive by many Indians. Apparently, he disregarded the huge number of Indian doctors, engineers, and professions.

I never argued that Biden's comments were not "offensive" to a minority by not giving them credit for all their achievements in society (which BTW, when viewed by a homeless or unemployed person, working at a 7/11 or Dunkin' Doughnuts would be considered quite an achievement), only that they were 'stereotypes' and not RACIAL SLURS as the title of this thread and the thread starter claims they are.
