Speedo Question?

The tach in my '01 guage cluster is dead all others work. Bought a used cluster off E-Buy (25 bucks, not bad). My question is, does anybody know if the milage will change to that of the new guage set or is it "black boxed" in the computer?
Also I plan to reverse glow the replacment set before the install, any thoughts or recomendations?

I don't know if this is the same as my old ford but if you swiched out the old gauge it would display an s with an O arounf it. Old 95 Crown Vic all digital display.

IIRC - It is part of the gauger cluster - and swapping it will cause your car to 'beep' in reverse or when going over 30mph. It's a tamper alert - to identify that the car had it's cluster swapped and that the mileage may be incorrect. only the dealer can swap clusters.

Hey Quik...I've heard you can swap the chips from one cluster to another. Any truth to that? Or do you need the NGS Star tester to do it? I swear...I'm buying one of those.
