It is posted at the start of the thread, go read it. If he were in my shoes, I don't think he would be so cool about it. Oh its cool my moms only out a g because of me. Some peoples kids. How does this purchase being in a gift have ANYTHING to do with the seller's responsibility.
How does the personal situation of a the seller have ANYTHING to do with his obligation and responsibility when actively soliciting and accepting a thousand internet sale?

Omen doesn't need to be a bad person, or be attacked personally, inorder to recognize that he hasn't functioned on this sale in good faith. Phily is absolutely justified in being pissed off for having to wait- REGARDLESS who provided the purchase money for them.

Is it to be assumed that it's acceptable to essentially BORROW $1,000 from any member of this community, or their mother, for an extra month? Of course not.

Before you sell something, particularly a large, expensive thing, you have to recognize the responsibility to you have to send it in a timely manner. Knowing what that costs, or accepting whatever it will cost, is part of that responsibility. If it costs more to ship than you expected and 'actual shipping' isn't part of the deal, then you made a bad deal. It's not a burden you pass on to the seller, unless they are saintly and patient, and you've communicated the problem and they accommodate you.

That said, there's no reason to vilify anyone in this thread.

Putting personal info up for public consumption is uncalled for.

you are absolutley right ford nut. It never needed to go to this extreme no matter if and when I make good on the deal, people will always have this so called "scammer" image in their head! This is a good site with a lot of good people and I enjoy being a part of it. I hope all this crap can be put behind and we all can move foward.
 
Well Omen, any comment I made in this thread only had to do with defending the fact that Philly had the right to get pissed about the situation! I am not thinking that there will be a "scammer" image in peoples head! It is just that you did'nt see where you were wrong at and admit that you needed to handle it better! If this situation teaches you a few things and you apply those lessons to your next transaction then I don't think that people will think that at all! But if you do not learn from this and do better business on your future deals than yes, people will look at you as doing "bad business" and not want to deal with you! That is all I meant in any of my posts about the situation!

Chit happens, life happens and kids happen. Sometimes stuff gets delayed but I am glad its sorted out.

I still hate shipping large items though. I once sold a set of seats from a Mustang to a friend in Fl. After I got the money and made the appointment to have them picked up at the $78 quoted fee they missed my pickup. I reschedualed for the next day and the shipping went to $200! :eek: UPS saw and aknowledged that it was $78 but they could no longer honor that price cause the previous day (the day the convinently forgot to stop by my shop) was the last day for the old rates. It sucked but I wasnt paying $20 to give someone my seats (only sold them for $180 shipped) so I sent my buddy back the cash.
