squeaks, rattles in the 05

hey guys, just wondering if anyone is experiencing squeaks and rattles from the interior of your 05 ls (ultimate). had the 02 ls sport (v8) and the interior noise was minimal but this new ls rattling from the drivers side door, middle seat belt section and the drivers side rear passenger door area. the dealer states that they can not reproduce the sound so what can they do. i had them to remove both doors and install some kind of anti rattle tape and to inspect all fittings. they concluded that they could not find anything. my 02 was sweet and quiet (without all the rattles) but i am not satified with this 05. is any one else experincing similar problems with sounds and rattles that are unexplained? :slam
 
i do not have a 05 mines a 00 and lately im getting all kinds of rattles since i upgraded speakers. mine are from around the sun roof, and in the back deck. it may be the speaker bouncing back there. but no luck in the roof. sorry about your problems with the 05
 
I experienced door rattling on my 04, dealer found a lose bolt in the door now it's a seat beat rattle from the passenger side but only on certain roads at certain speeds so I haven't had time to look for it.
 
Remember your entire car is twisting and flexing over bumps in the road, and all the trim is constantly shifting position, along with everything else in the vehicle. Consider nothing in the car as stationary.
 
05 LS Noise Problems

I have been experiencing two noise problems with my O5 Lincoln LS (V6). First, a rattle in the driver's side front door when going over bumpy roads. Second, a buzzing vibration noise emanating from the engine compartment at between 1550 and 1650 RPMs, that is markedly more noisy when it is cold out, when the engine is cold, and when going up a hill of any significant grade. Any assistance in diagnosing these problems would be appreciated.
 
The main noise from my 01 is the center console, because of it's cheap plastic material it makes the most noise. Other than that I do not have much rattles, the dash makes a little bit of noise around the CD player, I gotta remove it and see maybe a wire or something.

The other day I drove a new 06 LS and the interior seamed to be a little bit better in few areas, some I didn't like, but I liked the center console as I am having problems with mine.
 
noise in the 03+ drivers door appears to be the door physically moving vertically over bumps and falling back down on the striker. you can adjust the striker. fixed mine.
 
I own a 2005 LS V8 Ultimate and it is bank vault tight. Going over some frost heaves and potholes on the interstate with the radio on MUTE,this really surprised me,because most cars do have slight squeaks/rattles coming from somewhere.I'll check back with everybody once I actually put some miles on it;I bought my LS last summer and put it away for the winter,so mileage is kind of low.

Only time will tell,but so far I am very satisfied with this car's build quality.

My steering wheel squeaks

Yeah it dosen't do it all the time, but it squeaks every once in a while! It seems like it happens when I got peple in the car with me which is just my luck! I dont understand it I haven't had my car a year yet?
 
The loudest noise in my '06 so far is the fan for the heated/cooled seats. :rolleyes: What were they thinking? The seat fan is louder than the main AC!

P.S. Key words are "so far". :)
 
Yeah when I first turned on the heated/cooled seats I was like wtf, that sounds like a jet engine, and promptly turned the music louder :)
 
I have the 05 LSE and I too have noticed many sounds emenating from inside in comparison to my previous 03. I tell myself that its the stuff I have in my trunk, center console and glove box. I still think the LS is of the hook. Any inside info on the new MKS?
 
Only 7 years??

My 16 year old BMW doesn't have a single rattle... That's what I call quality.

Agree!! First thing I noticed when I bought my 04:)
 
I took my 06 in today for a rattle in the driver's door. I showed the SA the problem, and the tech looked at it. Turned out to be a missing bolt for the window regulator which resulted in the regulator rattling a bit when the door was closed. They replaced the bolt and the car is now rock solid with no other squeaks.

Squeaks often occur as a result of plastic panels rubbing together. One thing I do to prevent this is to apply a protectant such as Armor All to the various plastic parts in the interior. I use a disposible paint brush to get the protectant into the seams of the plastic parts. The protectant acts as a lubricant to keep some of the squeaks down. You may want to give this a try.
