I know about the wheel calculator and all, but what is the acceptable difference between front and rear sizes? How much (2%, 1%, 2.5%?) before the ABS computer thinks a wheel is locked? I'm thinking of going 265/40/18 on the rear and 245/45/18 on the front. Will the 1.3% difference matter? The wheels are 8" wide so I am a little hesitant to go to a 235/45 tire. TIA

I should really give you :q:q:q:q for asking anything about wheels with the attitude you give new members but I will leave that for someone else

That's why I said I already used the calculators. NONE of them tell what an acceptable variation is between front and rear for an ABS equipped car; they just tell the difference.

If your wheels are 8" wide all around i would go with 255/40/18 all around. As of staggered 245/45/18 and 265/40/18 will work but those are a bit too tall for the LS i think. I had those sizes on my CL mercedes originally.

Thanks, I'll probably do that. I thought I may be able to get a little wider tire on the rear with the wider wheel and try to neutralize the understeer a little. Costco has a $70 coupon for the Bridgestone tires I want. That makes them a shade over a grand.

$1000 for tires? Jesus thats a lot.

Thats actually not a bad price considering the coupon ;)

I have to replace the tires on my wifes suv its crazy expensive but well worth it at the end nothing better then some brand new rubber.

Try vulcantire.com. I buy all of my Falken's through them. They are cheaper than anyone else on the net or locally where I am. Plus I got them pretty quick. I've used Falken's for the past 10 years on all of my cars. I swear by them. I had more hook on my Supra on a set of Falken tires then I did on a set Nitto tires on the street. Just stay away from the Ziex 512 or 912. But all of their prices on tires are pretty cheap. Plus they have good customer service. I'm running Falken Azenis PT722 A/S tires on my LS with the 17" stocks. They are most always on backorder though.

Bridgestone is the first tire I got more than ~20K miles wear. The RE960 Pole Positions I have now are at 37K and I have maybe 5K left. I plan on getting their new 970 Pole Positions as I have them on my wife's LS and love them. Also, 255/40/18 is an expensive size! I had Falkens once and hated them. They were noisy, permanently flat spotted and didn't last long.

There are a few things in life that shouldn't be skimped on; shoes, mattress', pillows, brakes, tires, etc. ANYTHING that affects safety of health.

I too run the Falken 452's and have no issue with how they perform. On my 3rd set Actually, they have been one of the best tires I have ever driven in the rain on at higher speeds.

Call me "skimpy" (joking LS4) but I have zero concerns about my experiences with them.
