Just a quick question, isn't the alarm supposed to go off when a door is opened while the car is locked? I sat in the car with the alarm armed, I opened the door and nothing happened. Is this the way it was designed to work or is something not working right?

The LS is smart, it knows you are the owner and that you were still inside the vehicle.

and by arming it, you should have double clicked the lock on the FOB and seen the red lamp on the dash flash. (PATS)
Try this ....
- lower the driverside window.
- close the door but don't lock it.
- from outside of car, double click the lock on the FOB.
- wait a moment. ensure red lamp on dash is flashing.
- reach inside through window, unlock and open door.
Alarm should go off, if not then there is a problem.
First GEN or second GEN ? (cuz we have the information to perform pin point tests)

Not unless you set the alarm. How did you lock the car? With the door switch? That doesn't set the alarm, the key fob does.
It just needs one click. The second one is just confirmation that all access points are secure. A double horn beep means one or more access points aren't secure (completely shut).
I always double click to hear the beep. It's a Gen 1 (00 v6). I had an issue where the trunk plunger switch was bent out of position, but it's solved now. I only hear one chirp now as opposed to two when I bought the car.

yes my horn works but is sounds like a Honda civic horn lol but it works just doesn't go off whe the alarm is activated.

When you press the horn button, is there a delay before the horn starts?
You actually have two horns that sound at the same time. You may have to replace both.

Wait, are you talking about when the alarm is triggered (panic button or door opened)? Or are you talking about when the alarm is armed and disarmed? Most would consider triggered and "goes off" as the same thing.
Anyway, by default it is programmed not to beep on arm/disarm. When arming, you can press the lock button on the remote twice to get the horn to beep.

not true, as with most fords, you can arm the system by pressing the lock switch WITH the drivers door open. when you do this with the LS, the parking lights will flash 5 times as soon as you press lock letting you know that the alarm has been armed but that one of the monitored points of entry are still open, then when you shut the door the parking lights will flash again to let you know that all the entry points have been closed and the system is armed. on top of that there is a small delay before the system can be triggered, i think about 2 minutes (if the unlock switch on the door works, then it has not been long enough, once the system is armed, it disables the unlock switch)

The audible confirmation feature can be turned off/on through the vehicle message center (if equipped).
If your vehicle does not have a vehicle message center, the audible confirmation feature can be turned off/on by your dealer.
... but even with that feature disabled the horn should still sound during a trigger of the alarm itself.

Yes, all V8s have the message center. Use the setup button.

That's the mystery here. The FEM activates the horns. It is difficult to imagine a problem that would allow the horn to blow when you press the horn switch, but not when the alarm activates. It's the same circuit either way.
When you used setup, you did go to the correct option and enable it (sorry, I forget the exact wording)?
