Stock Bumper Modding

When i still had my stock bumper, i was going to mold the front valence unto the bumper to eliminate the separation. Then cut out the bottom grille and replace with either abs plastic honeycomb or maybe a pattern that resembles the mclaren grille.

I really hope you don't do anything similar to what you posted. It looks terrible. Definitely needs some more lines, its too smooth.

Wow, a lot of negative feedback, guess this type of thing doesn't have the support I thought it would...

The 06 LSE bumper cover, like the rest of the LS, was aesthetically designed very well. Not saying you are not going to hit upon a great idea, but, you may be very hard pressed to do so. The 06 LSE just looks as good sitting still as it does coming at you.

Don't give up. Maybe you will present something we have missed all along.

Maybe....

i'm afraid your were assuming that we'd feel any modding is better than no modding... which isn't true. many have tried different looks that look far worse then factory...

but keep trying, or stop worrying what we think..either will get you there

How about a tasteful spoiler? Like a modified Mach1. Or a subtle splitter? You need to do something subtle that doesn't distract from the lines of the car.

Not a fan of the lower moulding being body color but the shrinking of the lower grille looks pretty good. I still don't think it's necessary but that's much more acceptable than the first idea you had. Can't imagine it's worth cutting up a bumper just to shrink the lower grille.

I see where you are going, but, my eyes still see the 06 LSE bumper cover, 02 LSE side skirts , rear lower valance, and calling it a day.

this is what I want to do, I know some of you hate this type of look but this is the plan probably not a bmw bumper but you get the idea. also if you are good with photo shop make it all the same color

Now, somebody tell me this wouldn't look awesome with a nice wing on the back.

?

What's disturbing is this was found on LVC. Someone here thinking along these lines? I'd be embarassed to share a parking lot with something like this.

Did a little more work this morning.....

That makes the shape of the fog/driving lights look very odd. The don't fit any of the other lines. Too bad I don't really have a solution than just leaving the stock LSE/'06 bumper as is.

I think I see a solution. Match the inside line of the foglight with the new lower grill opening. You would need to come up with a way to make the fogs look right then.

Second solution, take the grill all the way across, eliminating the fogs, then replace the fogs with a set of LED fogs set inside the new grill a bit, just enough to not be seen when off.

I'm thinking of fabricating a piece that would fit inside of the lower grill, possibly extending over the fog lights with a circular opening, and then using a black-out circular lens to fill the hole. I would figure out a way to attach the piece using fasteners on the back-side of the bumper cover, and then using a good plastic putty that has a lot of flex, blend it into the rest of the bumper, sand it down and have it painted. Once I have something put together (probably after Thanksgiving) I'll put it in place and do some photoshopping to simulate the finishing touches....

This is sort of a poor-mans LSE kit I'm coming up with. Thanks for all of the feedback! Both negative and positive (it's been mostly negative :/), I find it constructive either way.

Hope the final product looks good or I have a feeling you really will hear some not so positive feedback from a few members. LOL.

But I still say shoot for it. There is always maybe.

Thanks :), gotta take risks to succeed, this is no exception (I'm an engineer, it's in my blood). I'll have pics up as soon as the first prototype is done.
