Strut assembly

I know I would upgrade to Bilstein when it comes time on my LS. If I could not afford that route since OEM is no longer an option I would go with KYB before I would ever give strut master a chance. KYB does make decent stuff for the Japanese cars so there's that at least going good for them.

Wish that I had a compressor

I bought this from Napa years ago when I did my suspension rebuild.
Think it was $60... but with my f&f discount it was around $45.

Gotta drop down... and come up a coil or 2 to get it to fit. The threaded rods will bow as the spring gets compressed. Just maje sure you grease the rods and use the included safety clips.

All you need is is enough compression to get the nuts off the top of the shock.

Draw down both sides evenly... and release the tension on both sides evenly when the nut is off.

Keep hands and face out of the line of fire, (up),. This is done with the shock clamped in a bench vise.

I have been planning, (napkin drawing), to build a fixture for my shop press... to use it as a spring compressor for strut/coilover shock replacement. Someday soon... I hope to find the time to complete that.
