I had bought this kit a little while back thinking it was a lowering kit for the Mark VIII and was planning to us it on my Thunderbird SC....since it's pretty and stuff. :) However, after counting the coils and knowing that they are Eibach (progressive rate springs), it looks like they are stock ride height, progressive rate springs. Here is a link to what I have: http://www.strutmasters.com/Lincoln-Mark-VIII-Air-Suspension-Conversion-Kit-p/-m8-4-s.htm

Condition is very good, I was guess 10K miles or so. There is one stud missing from one strut mount - a bolt & nut could be used in it's place. Just a little bit of light rust on the bottom areas of the struts and shocks. Very few scratches on the springs.

In addition to the web link, I can tell you the following about this kit:

1) Rear shocks are Gabriel Ultras (I have these on another SC and the ride is firm)
2) Front springs read SMSP 3, rear springs read SMSP 4 -I don't know the significance of this.
3) Struts had brand new strut mounts on top (these are like $50-$80 a piece last time I checked - and hard to find)
4) Front struts are labeled "Strutmaster"...I assume they are Gabriels as well.

Pictures attached. Retails for $509 + shipping new...asking $325 plus shipping or $275 picked up locally. I am debating keeping this stuff for another SC...so don't delay if you think you want them!

i dont like my strutmasters....the ride on the front is very bouncy...ill probably end up going with the vogtland springs.

the Strut Nazi is understandably distracted today, he hasn't chimed in thus far :waving:

NEWBS! sorry about that...

By the way, unless you're naive enough to buy something this expensive from a nobody (on this site) - you can check me out on sccoa.com (SuperCoupe Club of America). My username there is DrFishbone. I've been there since 2001 (forum was updated in April 2002). I think you'll find I have a good track record as a member and seller. ;) Most members there know me online, and many in person.

I'm not a suspension expert by any means, but I would tend to think if the ride is too bouncy, the shock dampening rate is too light. If your definition of bouncy is the same as mine, Gabriel Ultras should not be bouncy. If anything, I think they're rather stiff.

I have Eibach lowering springs on my TBird (with adjustable tokico shocks)..on soft ride, it is a little bouncy, but firm ride, no bounce, even a little harsh and stiff sometimes. The Gabriel Ultras are in the middle of these two settings, a little closer to firm. Unless you're looking for a luxury car feel, the Ultras should work well for the Mark VIII, in my opinion.
