No. It's just a "beauty" cover.

it does pretty up the LS engine a bit.

i thought it was jet black? i have the fastest ls out because i painted my engine cover jet black

IMO the 1st gen LS engine looks ugly without the cover. The 2nd gen looks pretty good without it.

I asked the same question a while back. One answer i was givin was that it shielded heat from the hood. They said that without that cover it could create excess heat and bubble the paint on the hood. If you look at the cover it has alot of insulation. It was my thinking that without that cover the engine would disperse the heat better and run cooler. To me it wasnt a risk i wanted to take.

No, you have to get one made of carbon fiber because it weighs less!

Why else do you think people put Carbon Fiber hoods on their FWD Hondas?
