suspension, advice?

Thanks Eddie. I look forward to receiving my compressor this week! You're as good on the phone as everyone says!!

I think Eddie spent over a half hour? talking to me today about things I needed advice on that he doesn't even sell. :)

This is where Eddie blows the rest away... He will spend time with you. He really knows his stuff, and he's will not just try to make a sale.

Eddie knows how expensive the Mark VIII air ride cost the Mark VIII owner. He understands that the current Mark VIII owner is not the original owner who spent $40,000 on the car and could afford the $40,000 for the car.

He's the best... Also I've seen the difference between the OEM and the After market struts. They do seem different.

My personal opinion on the Mark VIII Air Ride. It's great when it was new, but once it starts to go you are better off with the conversion. You will spend more money trying to keep the Air Ride going, you will spend more time down trying to keep the Air Ride going, and you will never miss the Air Ride once you've done the conversion.

Also I feel the conversion handles much better in the curves.

I have 3 Mark VIII's two with conversions one still living with Air Ride.

However if you're an 'air' fan it's just how it is.

Coils don't handle better than air. I'm not saying it's vise verse, but there have been plenty of studies that have shown that air is at least equally as good as coil in the twisties. I don't mean to sound like a snot, but everybody and their dog that gets coils seems to preach about them and I feel it's because they need to feel like they are the 'wise ones' when generally, they probably just didn't understand or maintain the air. Nothing necessarily aimed at you. :) This board is a community for opionions, help, feedback, and interaction between mark viii fans nonetheless! If you want a better performing car, and it already has a real air suspension setup ..unlike the cadillacs... there is no reason I can see on going to coils. Unless it's your daily driver and you dont' care enough to maintain. Which is not who any mark viii driver will be in another four years.

...........................

I think after seeing the prices on the gen 1 struts I might go with an aftermarket setup. There is no feasable reason for the expense.

Air will last a long time if it's maintained.. and the benefits are well worth it, that's my opinion.
