I have just replaced the front factory struts on my 98 Eldorado ETC with a passive Arnott brand strut. The ride is much improved by I am getting a service ride system and speed limited to 90 MPH problem message each time I restart the car. I can clear these by pressing the info reset button on the dash but they come back with each restart. The struts are showing 11 ohms which Arnott says are within specs. Can anyone tell me how to clear these messages from the readout?

I doubt that you can clean service ride message because of new struts. They are after murket and computer will not recognize them. are they speed ajusteble, like original? Are you able to go over 90 mph?
My servise ride message comes on as well. That's right after a squirell incident. the car drives fine however. But once after sitting for couple of days I've noticed that rear right side dropped abut 1.5 inch or so. When I drive it it goes back to normal. I was gonna go get it checked out, but did not have time yet.
 
Do the passive struts have a sensor in them? There should be no reason for them to have a sensor if they are 'passive' so my guess is that the installer unplugged your factory struts and left the wiring hanging. Some manufacturers have a resistor that plugs into the wiring to fool the car into thinking that the factory struts are there, but the best method is to take the sensor out of the factory strut and leave it plugged in and wire tie it the frame somewhere out of the way. There should be many posts on this subject so do a search and if you can't find anything here try cadillacforums.com and search there. You will find hours of reading material on this subject.
As far as clearing the codes goes,To displaying DTCs using on-board diagnostic method:

1. Simultaneously Press "OFF" and "WARMER" (digital IPC) or "OFF" and "PASSENGER WARMER" (analog IPC).
2. Press "LO" (fan speed) button until "XXX?" appears.
3. Press "HI" (fan speed). "XXX CODES?" appears.
4. Press "LO" (fan speed). "XXX CLEAR CODES?" appears.
5. Press "HI" (fan speed) to clear codes. "XXX CODES CLEAR" appears. NOTE: "XXX" refers to a specific vehicle system:

o PCM (Powertrain Control Module)
o TCS (Traction Control System)
o RTD (Real Time Damping) (with F45 option)
o BCM (Body Control Module)
o SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module)
o IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)
o RADIO (Radio)
o HVAC (Heater, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) (with CJ2 option)
o LDCM (Left Door Control Module)
o RDCM (Right Door Control Module)
o SCM (Seat Control Module) (with AAB option)
o RFA (Remote Function Actuation)
 
Aaron - My factory struts are long trashed so I cannot get the sensor out of them. My new ones are as you stated, they have a resistor to fool the computer. Mine measure 11 ohms but I do not what they are supposed to read. Can you advise on what the reading should be? I can always get a resistor to fix it if I know the ohms.

Hey warehousebuddy, You're lucky. Your car has the CVRSS system in it which means that the RSS module does measure the resistance in that circuit unlike the 93-96 RSS systems which measured the inductance in the dampering valves rather than the resistance.

Before you do anything you should check the codes to see what exactly is causing the message to come up. The codes that would cause the SRC (SERVICE RIDE CONTROL) message to come up would be in the format of "RSS C####". "RSS" would be in front of the code.

So basically just a 12ohm resistor that can handle about 50watts... could probably go with less watts but its better to be safe than sorry.

Hi warehouseman,

Have a 92 Eldorado , replaced all 4 struts with munroe sensitrac {great ride} Had my Mechanic call : L0gan Diagnostic in Tennessee 615 479 1900.

I don't know whether Monroe and your struts have different sensors or fooling devices but give it a try . I have never had any readouts since they installed and Logan told my mechanic the codes .

Hey Guys & Gals, Gotta give a Holler out to Arnott Suspension Products for solving my bad Struts/Shocks problems. Have to admit that I was leery about replacing my OEM struts with Arnott passive system, well, I finally did it, and boy, am I happy with the results. Bought all four, front & rear from Arnott for a total of $478. My mechanic did the installation, and a front and rear wheel alignment afterwards(It's required) for $269 labor & alignment. He stated that the struts were made just for my car after I had ordered them, because the manufacture date, my name, my VIN # were stamped on the struts. Also said the installation went smoothly and all air hoses and wires went directly into all existing ports and connectors. The car (99 Eldo) rides like it just came new from the factory. I am extremely happy that I saved about $4000 from the quoted Cadillac dealer price for all four OEM plus labor.
