I got a system installed the other day (2 12" alpine type R's, 1800 watt Rockford Fosgate amp, component system, alpine 5x7s, a capaciter, and dynamat trunk kit). My trip computer has been wierd since then. The miles to empty is really screwed up. Right now I am at 0 miles to empty and have 1/4 tank of gas. I posted about this the other day and someone told me to push reset the next time I got gas and I did but it didn't reset. I got like $15 gas and the miles to empty went from like 30 to 50. Anyone know what could cause this??? Also, even with the dynamat, I still have a lot of rattling. Some of it is coming from the gas tank under the car...anything to do about that? :feedback

Wired wrong

This type of thing usually happens when someone does not have things wired correctly. Usually means that a wire was spliced that should not have been or you are getting some type of feedback into the electrical system. I would definately take it back to the installer and ask nicely if they could look into the issue. Our local system installers are real good about this.

actually probably caused by resetting the PCM from when they disconnected your battery. Give it a little time for the computer to readjust. When i restart my PCM and drive like grandpa it says i am getting 350 miles per tank after i fill up. Then it averages down to about 280miles per tank after i drive 'normally'
they didn't install a new HU right?. no splicing should have been done except for a remote wire which would not effect anything and the speakers.

As for the gas tank tarrling, i don't have that problem but you can probably take care of it by second skinning (dynamat sucks nuts) the spair tire compartment and under the carpet behind ur back seats. If that doesn't work then you can get your car on a lift and buy some expanding foam like 'Great Stuff' and try filling cap between the tank and the car because its probably not the tank resignating but its the metal on metal contact between the tank and the car.

Good luck

I used sheet rubber between the tank and the body on my 94 mark. It solved that problem. as far as the gas gauge problem, it could have been caused by unhooking the battery. I don't have much LS expierence under my belt to give you a for sure answer.

Thanks for the replies. I hope it will start working right soon. I drove all day yesterday with it saying "0 miles to empty." That is why I don't understand it, because it is WAY off, not just a little bit. I should have had like 150 miles to empty. I got more gas this morning and it said 40 miles to empty, so the low fuel light was STILL on.

Hate to change the subject but whats with the capacitor? Try a good crossover. Ive been out of the stereo scene for awhile but A good Crossover beats caps hands down.
