So I went and test drove two more cars on the long list of cars that are in the running for the next car purchase.

First up was the new Mazda MX-5(miata). The first time I checked one out I already loved it so I knew I had to drive it so I went to another dealer w/ the g/f to get her opinion and to take one for a spin. Oh my God, this was the first car besides a nearly 500 HP NSX that made me get all gitty. Now its not very fast, but damn does this thing get up and go. It was silver, 6-speed, nearly 50/50 weight distribution 150 HP. I never thought I'd like a convertible but this one I absolutely loved. Top is easy as pie to put down and back up. Took me a minute to get used to the view out of it but this car talked to me more than my beloved and gone z24 used too(that is alot).

We had to follow the saleman in another MX-5 to put gas in them and this is what I really liked besides the way the car got up and took off and that is how much gas cost. The car was on fums, and only $17 took it to almost full! If that was the LS we'd be talking about $37-$40. Now granted you do not need premium in the MX-5 but still.

Driving, handling was all good, as to be expected out of a small sports car w/ rwd. Shifting the 6-speed tranny felt just right and top down felt like top up, me and the g/f held a nice convo w/out shouting and at one point I was like "damn, it does not feel like the top is down, I can hear you perfect." Now keep in mind I have never riddin' let alone drove a convertible.

So needless to say I wanted to bring it home but cannot yet. But right now that car is the one unless the hard as crap to find MR-2 can top it.

So that means that when I went and test drove an '04 Cooper S inwhich my expectations were high, I was disappointed alround. Now the Cooper is a nice little car and offers many funs things but I did not feel anything like I did in the MX-5.

So that is all I got to say right now. Oh and the rest of the Mazda line-up is also in my interest like the 3, 6, and RX-8 but I feel I'd be happier and would regret not getting the MX-5 even if I did get a nice used RX-8(do not care for 'em, heard some info on them being temper-mental and not running great here and there, do not need that crap).

OK no offense but Miata's and MR2's and mini cooper's are all chick cars (read:GAY).

Still A chick car.

It is like drinking. After a few beers most women start to look good, but when you sober up you will be trying to chew your arm off what you did.

Opinions are a$$holes, and this place is full of 'em lol. And I'm looking for a '95 or so MR-2.

Anyone who doesn't respect the miata has never raced one at an autoX, they humbel m3's all day long. I seriously want a miata with at least the 1.8 5sp and an lsd. Thoes things are crazy.

I actually have autocrossed a miata once. It was really an absolute blast. That said, riding a moped is fun too....

hahaha, good point. I have a 76 puch in the garage, I am willing to go the distance for the fun.

Anyone test drive the 2006 MazdaSpeed6? 274HP and AWD. That's a hundred more horses than the Miata has.

yes, its a quick car. The Mazda Speed Miata is a sweet car too. Very quick with the turbo. I would have one if I didnt have a family. Would be nice to have a small Miata sleeper.

Edit: I just re-read what you said; skip the part about the MazdaSpeed6/MazdaSpeed Miata.

I haven't driven the MazdaSpeed6, but I have driven the Mazda6, back-to-back with the LS that I wound up buying, no less. It was a very impressive ride, with the 3.0 V6 and 5-speed MTX. The MazdaSpeed6 looks like an incredibly sweet ride...

I will have to agree with mr. beaups; ALL of the formentioned cars= GAY!

Volkswagens are gay,but miata's and mini's take the prize!

Why are you test driving bitch cars when you have an LS in your driveway?
Even though you have a 2000, it's still better than brand new s h i t boxes.

Sounds like several members here are homophobes. This thread is turning racist/sexist real fast, just like the one on "ricer" used in a pejorative sense to describe Asian cars.

Beamer was simply posting his views on other cars he's considering purchasing. You can agree, disagree, or comment, but keep the racist/sexist/bigot/homophobe comments to yourselves.

2000? No 2002 and in sits in the garage not drive way lol. Why am I looking at these cars? Well lets see, I am keeping an open mind this go around instead of seeing a car I like(example, LS) and going and just buying it. MX-5 I decided to look at because since I like MR-2's older ones, I figured I mind aswell go check out other cars similiar. The MR-2 is not gay in my opinion, its a mind engine rwd, and the '95 looks awesome imo and that is what I am in the market for(not to mention the stuff than can be done). The new MX-5, Miata was dropped looks much better than the previous offering and now I know it a blast to drive and can make a great road course car(something I want to get into).

The Mini-S is something different, not to mention it does not have a chick feel to it except maybe the convertible. But everyone has their opinions, I used to think the same as some closed mind people it seems we have here but I guess I may have grew up.

The LS is just not my thing anymore, I like playing w/ the engine and making the car funner and this car is just not my thing. I do not want to do something to it since it is a nice car, but its rather boring. And now after meeting another owners and than listening to many on hear I do not like driving a car that others who do seem to be stuck up or act like its the best thing out there and everything else is gay, or childish or whatever. That is one thing I have noticed alot lately, I tried talking to a few owners about getting an LS group or just checking out this site and they acted like I was below their level or :q:q:q:q.

Anyway, I have many other cars on the list that I still plan going through because the MX-5 is not exactly practical as it has no space for storage, good thing it has a 6-disc cause I would have to be stopping and opening the small trunk to get to my cd's. And that would also make the g/f, future Mrs. Beamer lol stuck w/ the family car.

stuck-up owners? If you met me in a parking lot or other public venue, we would probably wind up talking for a while.I talk to other owners all of the time,as there aren't that many of these cars in my area, which is a good thing-I'll never lose it in a parking lot. As far as the "homophobe" comment,I was just agreeing with somebody else's post.Lastly, racist comments? Rice is rice, and for your information my g/f is part chinese and I don't think she would have a problem with comments about "ricey cars".

Not saying all are, but the ones I have encountered are. I've been apart of many car clubs and yada yada and this place is probably the most hateful of them all, even combined in some cases.

Was rice even brought up in this one? That word is out-dated anyway, I have not seen it or heard it up until it was brought up on this site.

Lighten up a little Todd, we're all just having fun here (I think). Anyone ever see the epsiode of Everybody loves Raymond (or was it yes dear?)...anyhow one of those CBS comedies. Anyhow he buys a Miata and the whole episode was about how it was such a chick car and he ended up trading it in. Too funny.

The older MR2's were pretty cool. I had a fiero as a kid...probably a chick car by today's standards but I grew up in Southern Cal so anything goes. Anyhow mid-engine stuff is real funl

So by agreeing, you must approve of his comments about gay people?

Also, nobody cares what your girlfriend thinks. The point is you are making racist comments on a public board. Have a little more sensitivity, will ya?

Beamer, have you looked at Z3 coupe? They have a 2.8 engine and a rear wheel drive, looks cool too, but if you can afford an M Coupe than that would be a monster, 315hp, the earlier ones had 240hp though.

Well I guess he'll be attracting more women now wont he?? Since all the chicks like those, they will sure be looking. Honestly, I'd rather have a car that made the women look and not one that had all the dudes looking. So Beaups if you like the powerful manly looking cars that only men look at...more power to you.

Miata is not a chick car, if you want a chick car go with a Beetle.

The new MX-5 is an awesome little car. There is nothing gay about it.
And while Miata's have historically been a pleasure to drive, this new generation MX-5 (they dropped the Miata name) is fast. 0-60 in 6.7 second. 1/4 mile in 15.2.

yep those are some pretty lame-o times for a car that small...not to mention a "sports car"

Those times are not that bad, they are better than the 00-02 V8 LS for sure. Not so good for a "sports car" category though.

Well they are not great numbers, but w/ the market out there they can be really good. Just like any car, the manufacture cannot do everything for you.

I'd like an z3 coupe but I have a difference in opinion about them all the time. I like them, than there is something that I do not like, just one of them things. I have considered looking at 328i's and such but I do not know if I want that type of Bimmer. Only one I really care about is a newish M3 ::drool::
