So I went and test drove two more cars on the long list of cars that are in the running for the next car purchase.
First up was the new Mazda MX-5(miata). The first time I checked one out I already loved it so I knew I had to drive it so I went to another dealer w/ the g/f to get her opinion and to take one for a spin. Oh my God, this was the first car besides a nearly 500 HP NSX that made me get all gitty. Now its not very fast, but damn does this thing get up and go. It was silver, 6-speed, nearly 50/50 weight distribution 150 HP. I never thought I'd like a convertible but this one I absolutely loved. Top is easy as pie to put down and back up. Took me a minute to get used to the view out of it but this car talked to me more than my beloved and gone z24 used too(that is alot).
We had to follow the saleman in another MX-5 to put gas in them and this is what I really liked besides the way the car got up and took off and that is how much gas cost. The car was on fums, and only $17 took it to almost full! If that was the LS we'd be talking about $37-$40. Now granted you do not need premium in the MX-5 but still.
Driving, handling was all good, as to be expected out of a small sports car w/ rwd. Shifting the 6-speed tranny felt just right and top down felt like top up, me and the g/f held a nice convo w/out shouting and at one point I was like "damn, it does not feel like the top is down, I can hear you perfect." Now keep in mind I have never riddin' let alone drove a convertible.
So needless to say I wanted to bring it home but cannot yet. But right now that car is the one unless the hard as crap to find MR-2 can top it.
So that means that when I went and test drove an '04 Cooper S inwhich my expectations were high, I was disappointed alround. Now the Cooper is a nice little car and offers many funs things but I did not feel anything like I did in the MX-5.
So that is all I got to say right now. Oh and the rest of the Mazda line-up is also in my interest like the 3, 6, and RX-8 but I feel I'd be happier and would regret not getting the MX-5 even if I did get a nice used RX-8(do not care for 'em, heard some info on them being temper-mental and not running great here and there, do not need that crap).
