I live in Austin and was wondering if there is a good shop that knows our cars,
and can install parts that I bring them? Im wanting to upgrade my exhaust soon and some other stuff so I need a shop that I can trust.

Hey Scorpio, I live in Houston. Exhaust work can be done by any good muffler shop. The thing most of us are doing is eliminating the third cat and making the Mark true dual. As you know being in Texas, you have to be careful with that because it may be difficult to pass your next emissions. Just a thought. There are a few Mark owners on LVC that live in Dallas and Houston. I've done most of the mods to my Mark with the exception of the exhaust. I went to a muffler shop.

Whazzup Gman been a while since I heard from ya, this emissions thing is bugging me. Its tricky to make a legal setup around here.

I have a buddy in Bastrop {not far from Austin} that did my engine and trans swap, he does good work and isn't a "mechanical rapist".

his prices are great compared to most other shops.

He did my engine and trans swap, then a second trans swap.. and a complete drivetrain and interior swap on his 93 mark viii.

here is his website, his name is Jeff Harris, Tell him "tom sent ya".

he also posts/hangs out on Central Texas Stangs message board

he posts under the user name SVO

he's lilke the "great gazoo" from the flinstones..
when you need him.. just call his name and generally he will appear.

pretty much, he's the only person I trust to work on my car, for the things that I cant "handle myself".

Thanks alot guys this helps a bunch, thats the type of good advice and help I have been looking for. I want to make her strip worthy and I dont think she is quite ready. I need to replace all the old airride stuff with new airride stuff, and some other stuff Im working on the O2 sensors right now.

Great Gazoo :runaway: Where?! Where?! Where?

Ok I'll generalize this a little bit, in actuallity I'm probably located the best for most all Texans.

Pending on your location in Houston I'm between 1.5-2hrs. away, I'm 30-45min from austin.

Now I don't want to get crossway's with the admin of LVC till I can get around to doing whatever red tape it is I need to do.

But, I mainly opperate by appointment, I very rarely travel, and Tom always puts me in these huge shoes ;) (luv ya Tom)

Please understand that I do "roundtrip" Austin everyday (106 miles) for a fulltime job, so if you PM me or such please allow some time for me to respond, and or make approprate calls.

ok, now back to my coffee ;)

LOL that's pretty funny, Scorpio1118_2000's last post was 4:35pm and mine was exactly 12 hours later :p

OK, GMAN here's the scoop, I grew up in the Houston area, did the traffic thing, the suburb's getting enveloped by the mass of the big city, dealing with angry/angst people all day.

In the near 10 years I have been away, I don't feel as though I have missed too much other than development/growth, I was however a board member of one of the larger domestic street racing groups, and drove in from 3 hours away to uphold whatever smack talking I did.

And I have even been back for a little camping/wheeling trip to the end of HWY87.

But I'm sorry I really just don't normally head that way, although someone I know just got a new place and I need to go spread a little house warming glee.

Mabey another free fish tank :shifty:

Anyhoo, my wife and I usally sport some sort of car club gathering at the house from time to time that generally turn out to be quite good times.

AND THE MAIN PART OF THIS POST...................................

These cars are a dream to drive, don't you all love driving them???

I live back where the country roads are 2 lane and hilly/winding :D

I drive sometimes 15-20 miles out of my way into Austin for some killer roads, Tom there is still one I haven't shown you, and Scorpio1118_2000, if you want a neat little road to drive check out "969" out this way or "183" to Marble Falls, you'll thank me later ;)

I was bummed that I have so much going on right now that I had to cancel my "driving" trip to Arizona this coming weekend, I was looking forward to setting the cruise at 120mph and enjoying the ride, but to no avail I'll just wait three month where it's more proficient for me to do.

So find your favorite CD and just............ GO FOR A DRIVE!

Boy it would be nice to see a like of Mark VIII's coming from Texas at the Beach Party in July.... Come on GMAN... I know you want to make this trip..

Plus Scorpio if you come early enough you can have your exhaust done here I've got a shop set up for Wednesday and early Thrusday to do LvC exclusive work. We are having a Mod portion of the Meet on Wednesday. If you have jobs that can be done in a drive way or garage the tasks can be done for free. If the project is slightly bigger I have a shop that will let us come in.

Would be fun....

Information is linked in my signature. Check out the sign up page to see the list of Members who are planning on coming so far. Would be nice to see the Texas connection.

Rich, I would love to make that trip. Unfortunately it needs more time off:D . I'll be there in spirit.

But we Texas Mark VIII owners can have a real beach party, Let's say, Galveston, with some Bar-B-Q on the pit. Common you Texas Mark owners, chime in.

San Antonio area here...36 miles east of the Alamo City :)

I'd be up for a cruise...keep postin'!

Greetings from the "254" Killeen/Fort Hood area. I am about 60 miles north of Austin. Just say when and where and I am there. I have been waiting for a TX gathering for a while now. Chris....you out there? Lets do it..
