The Magnaflow Post

Sorry for reviving an almost week-old post, but wanted to add my 2 cents.

The Magnaflow catback system on it's own is not a product that will give any truly noticeable response. I've seen estimates that the system will add another 10-14 HP, so if you get this product alone, you probably wouldn't be able to tell through performance. Add this together with other modifications like a CAI and the new tuner at Ford Parts Network, and you should absolutely feel what you've bought.

As for sound, it's absolutley noticeable. It's' not going to rumble like a big-block, but has a decent american hot-rod sound. Cabin noise can be reduced by adding straight tips through the back of the car. Some prefer the look of down-turned tips but beware that this will cause the exhaust note to resonate back into the trunk area, causing more noise.

I am getting my new tips welder on this weekend, and am quite excited.

Hey Mike, small world...did you get those tips on yet? I with the help of a friend just put my catback on this morning and I am thinking of adding the straight tips.

Yeah, got 'em on. I didn't take pics yet because my car is sooooo filty- I am a little embarrased! That and it's raining.

My mechanic was quite cool as he taught me some welding while I was there and walked away to let me change my oil (no charge, since I had my own stuff.) He was patient during the time we spent making sure we got the best angle, etc.

Honestly, I am not 100% happy with the way it turned out. Some of the newer models and older models retrofitted with the LSE and WW body kits are specifically made with exhaust ports, as standard models do not. This forced me to put 'straght tips' at an angle because of the bottom facia and I am not too pleased. It doesn't look bad, but not like I want.

We only tack'd it on, so we can break the tips off easily enough later if I decide to get a new bumper/facia/body kit.
