So I just got the trans fixed, but the tractions assist and the ABS light are on.

Then this morning, I popped my gas door by using the button... now It wont close... so how do I fix that? My car is starting to look hillbilly, LOL:(

Had the trans replaced with an '03 Mustang GT unit. Works great besides that little qwerk

And apparently the gas door just had a little hiccup. It seems to work great now.

I dont beleive the 03 unit is compatible with your gen1. If its a 93 then that is exactly why.

That is more than likely correct.

The 03 trans doesnt have the same gear on the output shaft as the first gen mark 8's.. so your VSS sensor probably isn't getting a proper reading.
Which.. does/will cause your ABS and TC to not work.

I had the trans taken apart, rear shaft changed, JMOD'd, valvebody plate drilled, and converter stepped up.

My Trans guy, Alan at DirtyD0g Performance knows his way around a 4r70w

He swapped all the necessary parts, told me an '02-up trans is better because they have a deep pan from the factory, and have the good parts inside.

The "98" mark 8 trans has the deep pan and the upgraded mechanical one way clutch.

Alan should definatley be able to address this issue, he indeed knows his way around the 4r70W..Did you ask him?

Yes, He and I have been talking about it, Next time I am close he said he'd rack it and see what the sensor's deal is.

DirtyDog.... ouch....

I don't really want to start a huge flame war about converters and trans guys... but DirtyDog has a bad bad reputation.... To give you an idea Darrin of BC automotive has his signiture dedicated on most sites to tell how he got screwed by DirtyDog...

A local friend of mine had a 300 mile trans explode becasue of DirtyDog, Chris at ADTR.net had a 75 mile trans die because of DirtyDog, your car is messed up probably because of DirtyDog.... do I need to say more?

Oh my...

So far so good though...

I've put about 400 miles on my new trans... I hope I don't just jinx myself.

Thats really the only issues is that sensor, but I am NOT entirely sure if he even touched it, could just be a coincedence.

Putting a speedcall would have been much more effective, and allowed you to fix the speedo if you did a gear change....

That would have been a good idea, but the trans was apart anyway. Apparantly the rear shaft out of a '93 makes a helluva rear shaft for an AOD...

I think all the gunk on the right side of the diff fromt he leaking axle seal has gotten into the sensor and causing it not to read correctly. I never really have any problems with the sensors after lowering the diff. The wires are plenty long enough to drop the 6-10 inches it drops. If they unplugged they unplugged in the trunk. As soon as my uncles windstar is off the lift we can check it out.

You have no clue what you are speaking about and know not what you speak.
You really don't want involved into this. In fact I'm sick of it myself. I'm not going to argue with you or he who persecute me. Relax and take life in stride, you'll live longer. I have 3 kids and run my own shop near my home. I have done more jobs than you can possibly imagine here, yet only those which involve the nameless others have gone bad. Think about it....

Alan... you can say ANYTHING YOU WANT... it doesn't change the fact that MANY MANY MANY MANY of your converters have failed epicly in very very very few miles..... You can't change the truth, sorry.

That is far from the truth.
1 failed in a trans that was mentioned to have problems before hand and never had anything proved. Unit was never returned to me for warranty.
1 failed and had a smashed side where it had hit something hard. I fully replaced the unit despite the obvious abuse.
If you are mentioning Dan have I got a story for you there. That is completely bullcrap. There was never anything wrong with that unit but paranoid fear from hearing the same crap you choose to buy into.
I have over 10 year experience and thousands of customers. The guy you believe has over 2 years and dozens of customers. Do the math.
The entire situation is stupid and you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

I would only use a Circle D covertor made by Chris in houston.
PERIOD!
I've seen far too many issues with "special covertors" made for the mark 8's..

I've also seen the problems associated with the Dirtydog tc's but I have no interest in "arguing about it over the internet"..

hell I've seen them fail in the anemic Crown Vic platform..with 260HP..so I definately wont put on on my 300HP mark 8.

Circle D was building great TC's when alan was in highschool...
I'll put my money where the experience is.. CIRCLE D all the way!!!

http://www.circledspecialties.com/

I have no interest in Circle D, they aren't my "FRIENDS"..I only promote them because they "hands down" make the best TC on the planet!
