Stretch it a bit, put a back seat in it and a hardtop and Lincoln grill on it, and it would make a dandy Mark IX.

Love the new Jags. They make XK Coupe as well! Ford should be taking notes on how a car should look and drive. Instead of all these FWD toys.

Just me or does the jag and the mazaratti look an awful lot alike
They have for nearly 20 years. The DB/XK/Maserati have shared basic design for quite a bit. The same guy designed all three if memory serves.

Ford had an amazing platform with dew98 but they let it go. The current XF still uses it that's how good it is. For those that don't know, it's what the LS rolled out with as well as the thunderbird and s-type.

Multilink suspension with independent rear and aluminum double wishbones.

I raced a Jag awhile back. Newer model with the Jaguar coming off the hood. I asked him how much he spent on it at the next light and he said $14k. Yeah right! Lol. I got my ass handed to me by that car. I think it was as quick if not quicker than the new 5.0 Stang I ran awhile back. I'd like to know where I can get a 12 second Jag for $14k. Lol.

Jaguar S Type R. You can pick one up for 10-13k. It will run 12's with a pulley change. I've been eyeing one for a while now, almost bought one instead of the GTO.

I'd like to try to figure out what exactly it was that I ran. I googled pics of the Jaguars and couldn't find it. I must have misread the badging on the back of the car but whatever it was, it flew and it was the newest looking Jag I have ever seen. I just wasn't ever under the impression that you could get any 12-second Jag for that little bit of cash. It wasn't an S-Type R.

He said it had 400hp, so really I was probably stupid in the first place for even trying. Somehow a 400hp Jaguar sounds a lot more scary than a 400hp Camaro.

I really like the F-type, and have since it was a concept car. Anybody else notice we seem to talk about Jags on here almost as much as Lincolns? :shifty: Not that I'm complaining, since I own a Jag and have been a fan of their cars for almost as long as I've been into Lincolns.

Sounds like a "R" model of whatever it was. The 4.0 and 4.2 supercharged engines in those were rated around the 390-400 range if I remember correctly. If it had the Jaguar "leaper" hood ornament, it couldn't have been any of the newer Jags (XF or new XJ) or any XK (unless someone added a hood ornament to one of those). My guess is it was probably an S-type, late-90's to nearly-new XJ (not the current model, again), or an X-type. Try doing a google search for each of those and see if any of them look familiar. All 3 are 4-doors, but the XJ is a bigger sedan, and the S-Type and X-Type are smaller and somewhat similar in size to each other.

It was either an STR or XJR. All the older jags are too slow and the newer ones don't have the leaping jaguar on the front.

Yes the AJV8's make good power even N/A. I know a lot of you guys don't like the LS but engine wise it makes very good power. It is a DOHC 32v motor.

Those Jags also have the ZF transmission.

I'd drive this.. even with the hideous paint job..straight to a paint shop

The lines on these cars are just gorgeous. They definitely remind me of the same sexiness as Mark VIIIs. It'd be nice if the crazy crap on that car was just a vinyl wrap or something. Hard to believe anybody would have taste that... unique. :yuck:

That's a very common practice among car companies. They usually use some method of "veiling" a car that's in the testing or prototyping stages so that they can get some real world street testing before they actually announce the car/design change.

Ford likes to cover the vehicles with thick padding so you can't easily tell what the car's going to look like. Others will put some crazy swirl design like this or wavy checkerboard to break up the lines of the car. Keeps us guessing.

If it had the leaping Jaguar on the hood it was prolly an XJR. Mine was only $4000 when I bought it and with a CAI and pulley change it was an easy 13 flat car. With some exhaust and tune work it would have been in the 12's. Had it of been the version with the 4.4 the car could have done 12's with the pulley swap alone. You can find the 04's for 12k or the 97-03's for under 6k (for 97) and well under 10k (03) if you shop around.
My 98 would dust modded 3V GTs all day but I never got to play with a 5.0

I was hoping that, but I think it threw me off because it looks like it's coming out of a residential driveway with some goomba, non-techy looking guy in the background.

Santa was at the restaurant I went to last night so I showed him a picture of the black beauty up there and told him that's what I wanted for Christmas. He agreed and asked me what options I wanted so he got it right!!! Excellent Santa! :D

Then from 04-09 and around 07 they lost the hood ornement:

Nice car, Laser!!! Boy, aren't those new XFs just gorgeous, too... licks lips. I love coupes, but I'd have one of those in a heartbeat and I don't think anybody does interiors better than Jag. Pure class.
