I had a buddy lay this down friday night. Free hand the whole thing. I have new red Lincoln star emblems going on it and seven more LED lights going on.

What do you guys think of the stripe?

Street FX Colorstorm LED lights. I was suppose to have seven more installed by the time of the show. They arrived the day before. So I will get them on later. Pictures of the current set-up.

Nice bit of flair on the stripe! Great overall, too! Keep up the great work!

i like the stripe, but not the placement, i personally think a pinstripe looks better on the actual crease in the car

The trunk is getting completely fiberglassed and painted Autumn Red. Including the underside of the trunk with a 10" moniter and two 6.5 coaxle speakers. Upgrading the subs and trimming it with more Street FX Ciolorstorm lights.:D

The interior is getting two-tone leather seats to match the stock door panels. Lincoln star is getting embroitered into all four seats. Alpine W200 headunit with two 7" moniters in the frontseat headrest. Trimmed with more Street FX lights.

Exterior is getting suicide rear doors with a two-tone paint job and realistic flames to seperate the two colors.

Red LED lights are getting added under the hood with some strobes.

Now that I have told everyone my plans for the future. Don't copy me.:p

The Alpine W200 is a nice head unit... it does have its downfalls though. I'll give you more info if you wish to know this user's opinion.

I love the way your car looks. Super clean. You must have a good relationship with your custom shop or at least a lot of money to spend. Are you dying the leather seats or are you replacing the leather?

Your LS is your daily driver right? It sure is hard to keep mine clean with the miles I put on it (18k per year) and no garage.

I dig the stripe and the neon. I considered the neon but felt it was not warranted as a first mod.... on a plain car it is too rice. But with the extent yours is modded it is right at home.

Congrats on the win! Keep us updated with pics.

ey rollin' you ever consider painted the bezel of the headlight housing to match the car? or some eyebrows (also the same color as car)? or have you considered puttin' the 03+ fog lights in there? just small little suggestions that i want to know if you've considered. really nice man. i know you got money or have some good connects

if u get the 03 fogs.. i would maybe paint the black bordering vivid red to match the car..

the upgrades sound good.. i see u and broke are going at it with the mods.. i might be selling mine and i still have airride for sale.. :D let me know.. the current buying is delaying to get the money up currently.

Thanks for the compliment.:)

Whats the word on the W200?

I have done most of the work myself. I am having the material replaced on the seats. I do have friends that own their on shops(car audio and body shops).;)

The LED lights were free. Only reason I would have put them on. I am sponsored by Street FX.

It is a daily driver. Only has 62k miles on it. Not bad for a 2000.

This user's opinion of the W200:

First of all the W200 already has a successor; the W205 pictured here.

Crutchfield has some good info on it.

The W200 does not lower it's face all the way down like the W205 does and the DVD slot is at the top not the bottom. The Alpine portable navigation looks promising. The unit fits the dash very nicely. I did not install mine personaly so I can't say how hard it was to trim that face plate to fit. I did have to remove the unit in order to get the steering controls to work (my shop could not get the PAC unit to work although all I did was follow the instructions).

Let me say that the DVD playback is great... quality, size, image adjustment. It is very easy to allow playback while driving, and steering wheel control is easy to set (although the buttons must be pressed longer than with stock controls). I used units from PAC to allow these modifications (PAC-SWI-ALP for the audio and PAC-TR-7 for the video) both purchased off ebay.

The audio adjustment is only a little more than basic. It provides bass and treble center frequency adjustment, level adjustment, balance and fade, subwoofer level control, and loudness (on/off). I believe you will need an external audio processor to use Dolby or have 5.1 sound for your DVD's (with the appropriate amp of coarse).

Alpine's full speed control of ipods is great. I plug it in an set the ipod in the glove box. Then the head unit can scroll through all the songs on the ipod. The screen looks similar to the ipods when in this mode and can play songs in the same manner.

There is ample inputs on the unit (camera, navi, and aux I believe). All of which can be disabled so you dont have to scroll through them when switching source from DVD to radio. There is also one video out for another monitor.

The touch screen is very nice to have. I rarely use the remote. The pulse-touch is odd at first but kinda nice. I have mine disabled cause it made noise when I touched the screen. To each their own (there is also a "beep" option). Alpine allows you to change the background as well. You can download premade backgrounds and store 2 in the unit. You can not make your own background at this time. The unit also allows for automatic light level adjustment based on external light level (ie it dims when it is dark outside).

I would say there are two things I dislike about the W200: Limited audio adjustment and it takes a while to eject a disc (5-10 sec.). This is the first double din unit I have owned so moving that screen out of the way could take some time. Check out this item on the W205 if you purchase that one since the face opens farther. This might not affect the eject time but could interfere with your shifter (I believe the radio is above it but it is better to be sure).

Alpine's hardwired navigation is expensive. No word on the cost for their portable unit compatible with the W205 though. Looks very promising to me if you want to have navigation. I would guess the price to be comprable to a Garmin.

Since the install my accessory delay for the radio does not work (car is off = radio is off). I would like to have this delay back but have not had time to tinker with that yet. One of these days I'll have some extra time.

I hope this helps. Keep us updated with pics of that sweet LS.

I am not interested in the navigation unit. Can I save money not getting it? Will the factory navigation install kit work on the W205?

I have not yet seen the W205 so I can't say for certain, but I believe it is exactly the same size as the W200. The factory navigation faceplate should work just fine with the W205. I can take some up-close pics of my in dash install if you would like to see how it fits in there. There is a small gap on the sides of the unit but the height was spot-on to the factory opening.

Since the W205 is the successor to the W200 you may have trouble finding the W200. But if you can find the W200 it will likely be less expencive than the list of $899 for the W205. And since you won't be using the navigation I would recommend the W200 over the W205 simply due to the fact that the screen folds all the way down on the W205. The navigation unit that fits into the W205 has not even been released by Alpine yet.

I would like to see the two side-by-side to see if there is any difference in the screen quality. According to one reviewer on the crutchfield site there was... but that may have been self justification since he just spent $900 to replace a one-year-old $900 unit.... the mind is a powerfull thing.

Thanks for the info. I was getting the W200 for $800. Now that the W205 is out. I might be able to get it for even less.:)
