Why not do the 05 offset mustang hub swap. That way you will have new hubs and bearings and your choice of endless wheels for less than what they are asking for wheels and tires. Then you can upgrade to cobra brakes later for cheap. I had mine done 2 weeks ago

my honest opinion?
i don't really like any of them..
but the last one is my fav of the 3.

i found this site and you can get rims for your mark.
i was looking at these. can't decide between the 3

they got a lot of rims from 16'' to 24'' i think. i might get a set of these or just wait for SCP to get the cobras in

are you specifically looking for the cobra's, or the speedstars? the 18x9 speedstars you can get a few places, unless you want a 17x8 rim which the cobra rims are.

yeah i really want the speedstars but dropping almost a g on rims then close to 800 on tires i cant afford to pay for replacement rims if i bend one. the cobras i would go for, but scp won't have them for another 3 months. im not so sure about doing a hub swap, i'd have to think about it. 17s are safer for me, too many potholes to worry about here

the 18x9 are 210 i think, the 17x9 cobras arent that much cheaper, unless you go painted instead of chrome. 40 series tires on 18's not bad for the city. 20's will give you fits with potholes though

If you were to do hub swap .cruizinconceptswholesale.com has chrome cobra R staggered set 17x8 and 17x10 for $620.00 before the discount coupon if you search for it. I've bought from them in the past and they have alot of good deals

hmm. idk what i'm going to do. I mean if i get cobras in 18s, thecustomwheelshop has 48 of them in stock, 18x9 36+ mm offset direct fit for our marks, i would go with 245/45/18 and i should be fine right? the only tires i would run with 18s are continental extreme contact DWS all seasons, i've driven a benz with them and they handle so good in any weather. I wouldn't be as worried about bending an 18x9 cobra rim because they have different lips than Saleens. I'll have to call up Brad at custom wheel shop and ask him about running 245/45/18s all the way around with the 18x9 cobras. thanks for the help and suggestions guys

I feel its usually worth the cost of hubswapping on most marks out there if you plan on keeping it..

Even with 80,000 miles on my mark most of the hubs, rotors, and calipers were shot or on there way out.

You can always use GT stuff then upgrade to cobra later as you WILL save money mustang wheels, they are CHEAP

i was going 245/40/18 fr 285/40/18 rear. the lip isnt that much diff.

did you have any rubbing? and did you have to roll the fenders going that wide in the back? and i still have air suspension idk if that makes a difference.

what i would really like to run is 18x9 cobras

245/45/18 up front
275/45/18 out back or 285/45/18 out back

I'd really have to think about it, my marks got 90,400 or something like that. Next time i bring it to my mechanic ill see what he thinks, and ill ask to see what kind of shape the hubs, rotors and calipers are in. I have to bring it to him anyway because of an annoying belt noise, its either a belt, pulley or tensioner. Before i got my mark, i was looking to get a 99-04 GT, mustang parts are cheap as hell compared to marks. Is a hub swap hard? I'm not going to attempt it, but i'd let my mechanic do it

i'm under a grand on my ford 04 cobra wheels, and brand new 275 40 tires.
i was under 600 til i got the brand new tires.

hub swap. buy used mustang wheels. don't get hung up on brand new stuff.
you might even be able to swing used tires with your wheels to hold off on needing new tires.
and you can still use the stock brakes.

Got my chrome 03-04 cobra wheels for $300 but they are real and on a stang so they won't work on a Lincoln anyway!!

My front hubs ran $150 for Temkin's and the machine shop charged 80.00 to drill the 4.5 pattern rears and my front and rear slotted and vented rotors. If you do the cheaper brand rotor fronts you can buy for 80.00

I also found Z rated run flat dunlops with 85% tread life for $280 installed via craigslist

245/45/18 front
275/40/18 rear

I am a big supporter of hub swapping, but you do have to take everything into consideration. If you are not doing the work yourself you will be paying someone to bolt on new front hubs and redrill stock Mark VIII rotors or changing to a 10.5 inch or 13 inch mustang rotor and caliper. In the back you will either need to have the factory hubs and rotors redrilled or have the hubs drilled and run cobra rear rotors with adapters and centering rings or buy cobra hubs and rotors with just adapter brackets which are not cheap. With any of those choices you will also still be paying someone to remove the spindles and press out the hub and bearing for replacement.

Personally I don't like to redrill rotors, simply because I can't run to the parts store and pick up another if something happens.

Once its done though everyone is right it opens the wheel market up considerably especially the used market. Just price everything out and decide what is right for you.

if you have the $ hub swapping to new of course is a good idea, but i always say if theres nothing wrong with it, leave it alone. unless you plan on upgrading the brakes, etc. but the 245/40/ and 275/ 40 will fit with 18x9 with 36mm offset. i dont have them on yet i was going 18x 10 rear with stock height springs, no prob.and mustang rims and bolt pattern like wheels are cheaper, but the offset can be off sometimes as much as 4 " on one pair i saw.
and lobird gave the best advice.
