Ticketed for 75 in 55

V-8 you are wrong about the cop not having to show in Ma.The cop does not have to go to the hearing with the clerk magistrate., here they are alowed a rep. If you are not satisfied with the outcome you are entilted to go in front of a judge where your acuser (the cop) must be present if he doesnt show up you are automaticaly found not responsable for the ticket-:)

Have you ever considered the fact that your speedo is wrong and not the cop? And like V-8 said, you may hate cops right now cause they catch you breaking the law, but when they do something that really helps you you'll change your mind fast.

i said he was jealous of my car because i was moving at the pace traffic was, he got behind me, saw my UCA parking sticker and decided, hmm, college kid with nice car, he can afford a ticket way above what hes actually doing. its bs. and as for quit bitching. i cant afford this ticket. i barely make enough for rent, utilities, petrol, food. now an unreasonable ticket. and i got an ipod stolen. cops doing anything about that. nope. of course not. theyre too busy writing tickets to do any real police work.

Oh yeah, that's exactly what went through the cop's head: He sees your car, gets jealous, then sees a UCA sticker and thinks college kid can afford a ticket. What planet are you on? In case you don't remember, YOU WERE SPEEDING! 68 or 77, it doesn't matter. You were over the posted limit, and attracting attention to yourself, so you get a ticket. Frankly, I'm glad. And as for your ability to pay the fine, tough cookies. Maybe you should have thought about that before you decided to drive over the posted limit.

You should consider this incident part of your college education! :D

cops have had the oppurtunity to help me out and they havent. last summer, i left my office to make a copy for one of the professors i work under. i left my ipod at my desk to charge. two guys came in, at the same time, the door only opened once, and left a postit note on another prof.'s door and took my ipod. i took the note to the UCA PD and they told me that the only way to get it back would be if they happened to come across them doing something else illegal. they couldve done something. but they didnt. police dont stop crime, if someone is going to do something the fact that they might get caught isnt going to stop them. we need to save our tax dollars and only have detectives that can actually solve real crimes, murder, theft, arsen, rape. ohh, any ideas why he pulled me over instead of any of the dozen other cars around me that were going to same speed i was?

Have you ever been fishing? Wasn't that on a commercial once? Where some guy got pulled over and the pissed off guy asked the cop why did you single me out and pull ME over when I was traveling the same speed as the rest of the traffic? His response was "Have you ever been fishing?" I thought it was kinda clever.

yes, i have been fishing. are you suggesting i need to get away from civilization and relax. because i could go for that right about now. that does sound like a good idea vaughn.

If that will help, go for it. I don't think any of us will ever be against taking a little break for some time to relax.

ohh, im not sure if all of your first fishing post came up. now i get it. so many fish swim past, why the one got caught. yeah, thats a good one. probably the best post in this thread.

As far as im concerned, Driving the LS keeps me from getting tickets. Makes you look like a responsible individual. The only ticket ive ever gotten in the LS is a warning ticket for no front plate. Thats because in SD you have to have both plates on. It was in the window, but thats not the legal place for it. Plus it was the 4th of July so they were saturating the interstate.

I consistantly drive 5 over the speedlimit, and in town i normally drive about 45. Posted speed limit is normally 30-35. Drive by the cops all the time. Not once have I been pulled over.

Its another story with my 00 alero, i always get pulled over in it as it is lowered and has a loud exhaust and normally would have a set of funky taillights that i made. Now its just a lawn ornament.

There is definately profiling here, u just gotta know how to avoid it.

^ Funny you should say that, I've only gotten tickets while driving the LS, never in the Navigator. My mom says it's because I left the dealer plate in the front of my car (as seen in my avatar), since I didn't want to put both plates on, and that it makes me more "noticeable" to cops or whatever. I guess it doesn't help that I'm usually doing 15-20 over the limit. *shrug*

You show the police a post-it note which, I assume since you didn't specify, has someone's name on it, and say your ipod is missing. As a cop, it's not what you know... it's what you can prove. Yeah, the guy or his buddy stole it and it's long gone; probably sold to a third party. Even if the police went to them and asked them about it, do you think that either of them would confess to it? All you have is a note saying this guy was there. The police wouldn't even have cause to search for the ipod amongst the suspects belongings. If the guy did have one, how easy is it to say it was his... of his buddys?

I love it... it's the cops fault because you left your ipod on your desk to be stolen. Don't hate the guys who stole the thing, hate the cops. Brilliant. Here's a little tip for ya... when you're at college, if it ain't nailed down (and even sometimes when it is,) it'll be stolen. Try protecting yourself from your own stupidity.

Well. I was doing such a good job driving recently, the state of TN felt the need to give me a citation.

Actually I was hauling ass coming down a mountain and got clocked at 87 in a 70. The trooper wrote me for 85 in a 70 which probably takes it down a tier in the pay structure. He was nice and polite, as was I. (There's no need to be a jerk and it certainly doesn't help anything.)

I was speeding. I got busted. I got a ticket. I'll pay the fine. The cop was doing his job. I've got no problem with that.

But then I was raised to take responsiblity for my actions. Sure, I've been hassled by cops. They've got a tough job. They don't know who is a thug and who isn't. They don't know who is lying and who isn't. They don't know who is going to try to kill them and who isn't.

Sorry, but this probably wasn't as exciting as most of the "ticket stories".

Heh..heh...
