I recently purchased a X pipe and i was going to do a resonator delete replaced with the X pipe and keep my stock mufflers will that give me a nice v8 sound or should i swap my mufflers ? Please suggestions would be appreciated ! I was going to buy tips with the rest of my budget but if swapping out my mufflers would make the sound more like a old v8 then which one and which configuration ? I have stock piping so ... Also do tips add to the sound ? Thanks \

I have an 03' V8

It won't sound like an old V8. Tons of exhaust threads all over the site and tons of videos on Youtube. Search and listen. This isn't a pushrod V8 and it will not sound like one.

Tips will make it look good, mufflers will make it sound good. Your choice.

Tips won't affect the sound.

Thanks and one more question is the stock outlet 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 ? I think i'm gonna keep the stock mufflers see how it sounds if i need some more sound ill swap em out !

I would do mufflers tips can always be added on later. Plus if you are looking at tips that will cost what a pair of mufflers will, shop around and don't put 150 or so worth of tips on stock mufflers. Also if you want old v-8 sound you will need custom ground cams. I tried to contact comp cams and another company about it and neither got back..... Or buy an old v-8. Not sure how much high lift cams would do anyways or if they would work well with our engine but I know they would have been pricey based on what friends have told me about custom ground cams they got and we need 4 not one like the push rod motors

The problem with the exhaust configuration for sounding like an old V-8 is the rear mufflers. Without a length of tailpipe the sound is changed. For example listen to the corvettes, same motor as a camaro but sound totally different because the mufflers are in the rear. (I am talking about older corvettes for comparison of "the old V-8 sound). For these cars the closest to that is to do a dual in/out center muffler and no rear mufflers. I had mine that way at one time but I was getting loud exhaust tickets. When I had my Mark VIII with the exhaust set up that way and no cats you would swear it was a big block car coming if you did not see it.
