Hello fellow members. I have a dilema, only you experienced, conti lovin memebers can answer. I bought my 92 conti signature series from an elderly man last summer. It had 85K on the odometer, and is in great shape. He also gave me the receipts for the last year in which he dropped 7100 bucks in replacement parts and repairs. One item he spent a lot on was the air ride system. He put in all new sensors, compressor, bags, lines,etc...Thing is, the shocks now need to be replaced. The air ride itself works flawlessly, but the shocks really are weak. It bounces pretty good when backing out of the drive and when braking, it dives pretty good. So, I say new shocks, or struts, whatever it has. I haven't gotten under her since replacing the power steering line, and the fuel pump in the gas tank, so I don't recall what it has, shocks or struts. NOW, I see that I can get the struts for about 500 bucks at my dealership, and I can get 40% off of that at the Carquest I deal with through my business. NOW, I see there is a conversion kit to replace those struts with regular non air ride type struts. The cost is much less. I found a place on line, Suncore Industries, that sells a lifetime warranty on the conversion kit with instructions for a little under 500 bucks. So the question is: How hard is it to do the conversion? How is the ride compared with the original air ride system? All input is appreciated.

if the original owner spent that much maintaining the system and all it needs are new struts I would just get the air struts. I have converted mine and the ride is no where near what a lincoln should be

Interesting. Even considering the cost difference? And, my concern is how much damage may have been done to the new components while driving the car with the shocks being so bad.

I converted mine because everything was shot and my car is honestly not that nice it is a $400 car. If I had a nice car with mostly new parts and just needed the struts I would keep the air ride.

I converted my 94 conti last year (both front & back). I read alot of other posts that said it was a good idea. The ride is definitely not the same, but was a cheaper fix. Since you have lots of new parts, I would probably stick with the air ride. Good luck....
