Told I have transmission leak/suspension issues (urgent) after oil change

Boy,,, that's some dealer you went to. Don't EVER go back there! Not only do they use "universal" trans fluid... but they also use a trans filter from AZ,,, instead of Ford/Motorcraft. Hard to believe they didn't have an OEM trans filter in stock... since the same filter is used in many other Ford vehicles

You may have some recourse aginst that dealer. If you have Thurston do the work... see if they will say that your issues are because of the "universal" trans fluid. If they do... ask them if they will put that in writing. If so... go back to that dealer and ask them to cover the cost of the rebuild. Better yet,,, send it in an e-mail... so you have documentation of their response.

If they say they won't reimburse you,,, contact your local DA office... and see what they say. Most likely small calims Court will work,,, but at this point you need to start documenting everything. In the end... I would think you will get your rebuild paid for by the dealer that originally did the poor work.

Don't tip your hand to either place... until you get all information. Again... only ask the dealer once to cover it... and if they say "no",,, then leave them alone.

Once they get papers,,, they will most likely want to settle for less than the full reimbursement. DON"T let them off easy!!!

If you win the law suit... (which seems a sinch), you may want to go as far as contacting Ford,,, to let them know what one of their dealerships is doing.
