Track prepared LS

1) Engine management - the LS is a "canbus" style car -- all of the components of the electricals talk to eachother via a bus.
Only the 2nd Gen LS ('03-'06) uses CAN. The 1st Gen LSes are OBD-II.

2) Pedals - the Lincoln, IIRC, has Ford's electric movable pedals. I don't know what the manual car had. You will have to either retrofit the manual pedal box (which may or may not even work), or go full custom pedal box, which is more expensive (maybe not! 5spd Lincolns were rare), but could be easier.
The adjustable pedals are only available on the 2nd Gen LSes, and then they're only optional. (My' '04 had them; my '06 doesn't). The manual tranny was only available on the 1st Gen LS V6, so the adjustable pedals aren't an issue.

3) Rear-end - the LS uses a weird rear end.
It uses a Jag 8" punkin. As you said, if you're going to the trouble of switching to a Mod Motor, the work to adapt a Mark VIII/Cobra punkin should be trivial.

Ok, I thought the weight of the LS was more like 3700lbs, I was comparing it to the BMW 5 series and they come out around the same. And that's with the aluminum body parts.....car's not light.

As for competition cars, there has to be several out there, I' not even in the well informed loop. For a start there's the CONCEPT car that was done for SEMA.....Far as I know it didn't see any action but you never know.

Then this guy who looks to have done it up big time.......he posted 34 pics at this site:

It's your car, I understand looking for advice on decisions for certain mods if they've been done before etc but when it comes to whether or not to do it, go for it if it's what you want to do. The experience can be beneficial in many ways and to others on the community. I get pretty jazzed when I see that red/white one...... :)

This is the LS I was speaking of... although not orange/white it is white/red.

I am suspicious about the guy who posted the pics on that site. He doesn't give any responses to comments, doesn't detail the car's mods well, and the kicker is he directly lists it as a 2006 when it is evidently a 1st gen (based off the headlights, grill, and rear surround).

None the less it is one sweet race car. Sure would like some more info on that one.

Well considering you can get 255's under the car stock, I wonder what he got under those rear fenders......?

Oh BTW, I hope that pickup in the background just happens to be parked there......either that or it's a hell of an advert for whatever brand of truck that is.....:)

Yeah I bet he has some fat rubber under there.

Do you mean the F150 pulling the Spirit of Detroit Motorsports car trailer? I want more info on this car!

I saw a Web page with more detailed info on that car awhile back, and it's about as much an LS as a Nextel Cup Ford is a Taurus. The body panels have the look of an LS, but they're fabbed, as is most of the chassis, and the drivetrain is anything but LS. It's a neat race car, but it's lacking almost everything that makes an LS an LS...

Well it's not a tube frame race car like 'those' series that show a shape but have nothing under them but scratch built car. This LS is an LS chassis, his Yahoo autos page shows the car in progress and I don't see any tube frame goin on there. Yeah, he cut out the rear quarters to flare them and the mechanicals have been changed out (I didn't much care for that).

I would have been more impressed with a twin turbo LS motor.....

OK, Now I remember.
Spirit of Detroit Motorsports was given 2 LSes by Lincoln to develop as race cars.
Somehow all the communication between them and Ford fell apart and the cars were never built.

Until now as I see.

Yes there are lots of questions regarding THAT car.

1 After removing most of the metal from the shock towers, how was that rebuilt?

t56 trans ans new 6.0 Mod Motor Hmm...
Located low and back... this could be really good!

Rear end. What did they do? What are they using?

Does this car actually run?

Is it in the Detroit area?

Who is HotrodLSR?
