Transmission: Infamous E!!!

Hey Guys i was driving earlier and the computer said check transmission and didn't want to change to the 3rd or 4th gear. So I turn the car off for the night and drive it to work the next mourning and its fine. When driving home from work it does the same thing. The funny thing i don't think the transmission is gone cuz it would have kept acting up every time i drove the car. Needless to say i take the car to the local transmission shop and he tells me that the soleniod Assembly isn't acting right. Im taking it tomorrow to get a second opinion but in the meantime what do you think it could be? for the record i originally thought i needed to change the transmission fluid as well.

Will it go in those gears manually or SST?

lol Its Rochester, NY. It DOESN'T shift when i'm in Automatic but i have't tried shifting in SST when the Check Transmission Light comes on. Other than that it shifts fine unless the check transmission light is on.

I would try SST next time.. Some say it will work with SST but not normally..

When mine went bad, the sst worked fine. It does sound like the solenoid assembly. Do it yourself cause its not too hard to do.

Well thats the thing is that my gf has to drive it and she doesn't like to use the sst. So basically it should work fine with the sst but does it sound like a Solenoid Assembly issue Fastlls?

Don't use the SST workaround for long. Fix the solenoids before the low pressures cause failure of the rest of the transmission.

Agreed.. Then it's time to replace the tranny which is REAL money.. Just fix her before you cause big problems
