maybe a dumb question but i was going through some old papers that came with my 1994 mark VIII referring to services and such performed on the car. One of the papers was from a transmission shop and listed the transmission type as AODE... I thought the transmission in my 94 m8 was a 4R70W... are these transmissions the same or was the transmission shop crazy?

today is christmas at my house just got my coil spring conversion kit, transmission cooler, and everything i need to do the jmod and accumulator pistons... this site is awesome been readin alot... fixed my alarm going off randomly for free (unplugged hood sensor), the previous owners said shops wanted a few hundred dollars to trace the 'electrical short'... got to try that seafoam treatment u guys are talkin bout and some of the other mods...

First off, :W to :V

I believe the AOD-E and the 4r70w are more pretty much the same, both electronically controlled; the difference is the 4r70w has a wide ratio gear set...

The brown truck was good to you... What year do you have? When did you get it?

1994 mint condition got it about a month ago no pix yet im going to take pix durin the upgrades especially of the seafoam smoke show

the AODE and 4R70W are nearly identical the 4R70W has the wide ratio gear set and is made of stronger parts to handle more torque.
