Passenger side secondary chain and sprocket broke.

Sorry to see your bad luck John. Does the sprocket look as though it suffered a stress crack, or was it caused by something else? Hope your able to get back in action with minimal effort. Good thing it was at idle.

Seems to be common. The heads I removed from the 03 Aviator had the drivers side secondary chain snapped. The rest of the engine was spotless.

Best I can tell, the break initiated at the integral key. They are (were) the FRPP sprockets with the new timing set used when the motor was built. They look to be iron sprockets?

From what I've read, the PS tensioner is the culprit in most of these occurrences. Aftermarket kits offer a supposedly superior design along with heavier secondary chains.
