My check engine light came on today and I stopped by AutoZone. They said it was P1120. I have made an appointment with the dealer but was wondering if somebody could give me some background on this code as the information they gave me was pretty vague.

Thanks,

Opie.

P1120 Throttle Position Sensor A Out Of Range Low (Ratch too low)

so it may be a simple TPS switch on the 2000-2002 (depending on the year of your LS). If you have the throttle-by-wire is may be more involved since they do not sell all the pieces separately.

Thanks. It is a 2000 V8. That may make alot of sense as when it is started cold I wait until the RPM drops to 1K or less to put in drive. But at the first stop light it feels like the gas is still being applied and I have to brake hard. At the second, same thing and then the RPM wil bottom out to between 600 and 800 and run normally for the most part. It almost acts like I am 2 footing it.

Sometimes at random when I put the car in park the RPM will jump to 1.5K to 1.8K.

I am assuming these are likely related?

yep - it's a cheap part that you can get from Autozone, Pep Boys, Advance Auto.... easy to swap - if the two mounting bolts have not 'seized'....

if it's not - you didn't waste much time or money.

Are there directions for this somewhere? I don't know where it is or have manuals.

Do you think this will help the racing engine syndrome at a stop light?

Thanks

you can subscribe to for access to the shop manual at motorcraft.com or alldatadiy.com both are ececelltent resources but if you are a paper centric reader then I would suggest shopping ebay for the shop manuals. Any one of them are essential resources for LS owners.
