I currently have 8 codes throwing on my car. 2 are each side catalytic convertor, 1 is speed sensor a, one is vss, 1 is abs sensor. I need to find information on how to test these sensors and circuits and the expected results. I also get a P1502 which I've seen as an ignition cylinder problem that i don't seem to be having. there were a couple others but i lost focus after the speed sensor and vss as those sounded like what has been affecting my transmission. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry. 2001 continental, check trans fluid every time i get gas 150,000ish miles, supposedly rebuilt trans, just don't know how long ago. I would eat off the trans its that clean though

I made some changes. First off I wondered if my problems stemmed from a random misfire and replaced the Bosch platinum +4 that the previous owner installed and put in OE comparable Autolite platinum. Then I replaced the K&N filter that the previous owner also installed with an oil-less filter and cleaned the mass air sensor with cleaner, and the throttle body as well. The car runs better and it hasn't stalled since I changed the plugs. I'm still having the transmission sensor problem. It is intermittent. It only happens about once a week. I wish I could just deal with it but I hate check engine lights. Should I go to the dealer for a diagnostic. I love the car but will pass the problems on to someone else if I can't find a cheap fix. Its $82 for my local dealer to do a diagnostics test. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try This

My OEM Factory Repair Manual says the EIC on the Continental has its own diagnosis ability.

If your cluster is the same design:

CCA Guage Select, to the left, Odometer center, and MCCA to the right.

Diagnosis and Testing for warning message on EIC

Get note pad to take down the codes.

KOEO

1. KOEO - turn key to "on" position and press MCCA System Check. After it runs, note if the Check Charge or Check Engine lights remain on. Turn off key off to cancel and clear. KOER test. Repeat steps in KOEO except start engine.

2. KOEO EIC Code Test - With the key off, press all CCA simultaneously then turn key to on position, let go of CCA. If any numbers are flashing in CCA, replace cluster. There may be flashing in MCCA and its normal. Write the numbers in: CCA, Odometer, MCCA. In the odometer section you may see something such as "02" and "dealer 4."

Then press once, CCA " Guage Select." You'll get new or different information. After you have written the information on your pad, press the Gauge Select again. Write information on your pad. Press Gauge Select a third time, write information. To exit test mode press CCA Speed Alarm. Turn key off, which also clears the data.

Taking your codes to determine symptoms probably is the next challenge. On my model the "check engine" if you are getting a warning tone and blinking "check engine" it means a serious issue. But that could be the EEC needs replacing or your 02 sensor needs replacing.

But the above test will give you a more accurate and narrowed area to look for the problem, such as the harness or EEC may be bad.
