I have noticed lately that when I start my car 20% of the time the trunk pops open. It has started doing this the last few months and it is not all the time, I think cold weather starts. Luckily in Houston it only gets cold a few times a month! Any ideas????

stop accidentally hitting the button with your knee, lol. this happened to me a few times and i never tracked the problem down. it definitely wasn't too cold at the time. check the trunk spring connection

how old is the battery in the car? before my car battery died funny things would happen ,like memory seats wouldnt go into position and the compass would loose its bearing and the alarm would chirp for no reason .It wouldnt surprise me if opening a trunk was caused by a weak battery:confused: Or its your big knobby knees as stated above:D

LOL, How did you know they were knobby?:D I am not sure about the battery, I have had the car for 2 years, I got it used, It may be the original.

I think I figured it out!!!! It may have been the battery going bad that caused this and 2 other things! I made a post that my gauges were going crazy when I started my car and someone mentioned that it could be the battery. When I replaced my battery proactively last week my trunk has yet to pop open and the gauges no longer swing from side to side on ignition. Here some other interesting info. My car has always said about 380 til empty when I fill it up. When the battery was replaced the tank was pretty full saying I had about 360 miles to go. When I started the car with the new battery the car said about 480 miles to empty. That means that somewhere along the way the car forgot about 5-10 gallons of gas was in the tank. And would tell me it was empty even though it was far from it. Pretty crazy these cars these days!

When you replaced the battery, the 500 mile average gas mileage that your car uses to compute the estimated range reset to the default factory value. After a few tank-fulls, it will go back to the more realistic range of 380 miles. (Mine is about 400 usually.) It's not that it forgot how many gallons your tank holds. That is hard-coded. Your gas tank is 18 gallons. 18 gallons x 20 MPG = 360 miles to empty.
