Trunk Pull-down

Hi, the trunk pull-down is acting up on my 1995 Lincoln Town Car. Sometimes the trunk will close and sometimes not. I hear the motor working but won't latch. I am wondering if the problem is the electric part just under the trunk lid or the metal part at the base of the trunk. Last time, it took me about 20 minutes to close the trunk!

Had an issue with mine from using the auto close feature on the key fob. I replaced the latch and it works but only by the key. If I plug up the electronics the two sides are out of sink and the lid pops back open.
