hello lvc
i havent done a full tune up on my car

i want the BEST!!

they say royal purple is the best

and as far as spark plugs, they say silver stars

let me know your opinions LVC :)

and how much do you guys get charged for labor?

What are you replacing? Coils? Plugs? Use "search" to find many answers. Use sticky to find source for parts. Labor depends on where you get the work done at, independent or dealer. Need to list year of LS & V6 or V8. You can search for same engine parts.

I made my own spark plugs using welding rods.

It really depends on what you have done already or recently.

1) Buy NGK plugs they are oem replacement and the car does well with them (gap appropriately)

2) Coils, people like the visteon ones and Motorcraft. I used bwd and haven't had an issue.

3) Oil Change, I wouldn't use royal purple for a daily, sure its a great oil but most semi synthetics or full synthetics are more than enough. I use motor craft semi synthetic.

4) Cost all depend on your local rates, most all of this you should be able to do your self with some basic tools.

5) New air filter, or clean your cone filter if you have one

6) Check remaining fluids, and address as needed

1)NGK it is :) im going to search up the best plugs they make?

2) i sisnt even now i needed em:( but i look into prices

3)No royal purple got it..how about mobil1? would it effect my motor from past oil changes its been getting at pepboys?

1. FR5AP-11E is the plug the engine was designed for. Use it, you won't do any better. The coils will probably fail before the plugs anyway.

2. Yes, you need to change all of them.

3. Mobil 1 is great. Use 0W-20 or 5W-20. Never, ever, go to Pep Boys for anything but parts.

Stop asking questions. Here is your answer. A spark plug is a spark plug. Get NGK platinum as they are the oem for the car.

Go to the dealer and get a $30 synthetic blend oil change. Better than conventional, cheaper than full synthetic and recommended by ford. If you want to pay more for full sythetic, then get mobil 1.

If youre gonna do plugs, also do coils.

Iivan,

Feel free to ask any questions, that is after all the whole point of the forum. However a good deal of information has been covered plenty of times (reason for the hostility by some)

Good etiquette is to search first

M4rk told me to try 7 quarts of EVOO with my next oil change...the car runs like butter now.

I am pretty sure it's 6.5~.75 quarts but I suppose a half quart over wont kill the engine either.

Never heard of EVOO

Yes, the spec is 6.5 US quarts, but 7 US quarts brings both of mine exactly to the full line on the dipstick. I can't see how 1/2 quart over could hurt.

I found out something one day when working at a Ford/Lincoln dealer. I had a second gen LS in for oil change, when I reviewed the invoice before calling customer 7 qts of engine oil was billed out, I went to part and asked how come 7 are billed out it should only be 6 since when I do the oil change on my car 6 quarts fills it. He tells me all LS's with 8 cylinder take 7, a little further investigation and for my 2002 capacity shows 6 Qts. and second gen cars show 6.5 Qt. capacity. I am assuming the oil pan is different or something???

2002 LS 3.9;
Engine Oil Capacity

With filter 5.7L (6.0 qt)

2003 LS 3.9;
Engine Oil

With Filter 6.2L (6.5 Qt)

I think it's more likely to be the water-to-oil cooler, but I thought that 1st gen sports had that as well.

I agree. My gen I and gen II sports took the same amount of oil 6.5 qts every time.
