"UPDATE" What is this part?? it's leaking and I want to fix it. Power steering line?

Well, apparently the pictures below are showing the ac charge port and those 2 lines going into that fitting On either side are Part of the coolant system I believe that is attached to the ac Compressor . at first I thought my leaking steering fluid was coming from there but it must be leaking somewhere above that and dripping down through there . I have found the culprit!!! The first image shows exactly where the leak is coming from. It turns out that the steering fluid is slowly leaking and trickling out through that electrical connector connected to the steering pump at the bottom of the pump. I recall another thread where I believe this issue is discussed so I will conduct a search to see what this piece is and how to repair/replace it. I am assuming this piece is some type of pressure sensor that somehow has a seal that has deteriorated and is now allowing steering fluid to seep through into the electrical connector and run down the harness. I hope there is a write up or a general diy on this issue but I will take more pics as I work this problem just in case someone else has to tackle this job as well. Minor technical correction: Not the coolant system, the refrigerant system.

Anyway, the power steering pump is above the AC compressor. The color of the leaking fluid is correct for the power steering. Oil from the AC system would be yellow/green. What year is your LS and which engine? (May help with later questions.)

Fixed!!!!!! My issue was indeed the power steering pressure switch sensor that has 2 wires coming out of it as pictured on my original post. I purchased a new sensor from Autozone and replaced it. Wasn't complicated to remove....just requires a bit of patience since it has to be removed from above and it is a very tight spot so a deep socket set is required as well as a small ratchet, preferably one of those small stubby ones. you simply disconnect the harness and ratchet out the bad switch, no need to remove the power steering reservoir, simply unbolt it and move it aside. Power steering leeks out of the pump when the sensor is removed so have a container below to catch it. I used electric contact cleaner (spray) to clean the electric connector at that plugs into the sensor since power steering fluid had gotten into and through it. Hand threaded the new sensor in, then ratcheted it snug, plugged in the harness and refilled the power steering reservoir and started the car. Checked to see if fluid was leaking and no more leaks so I turned steering wheel left and right a few times to build pressure and circulate fluid and checked again and no leaks. Topped off the steering fluid in the reservoir to the MAX line and done. No more steering fluid leaks.

I know this post is almost a year old BUT I have similar problem. Leaking power steering fluid, tried to check the pressure sensor, only thing is I don't have a pressure sensor in the same place yours was located. Where can this son of a bastard be hiding?

I apologize for the long response time I was out on vacation. But to answer your question my car is a 2000 V8 3.9

If it's not in the middle of the high pressure hose, it should be on the pump itself. It seems like your best bet would be to clean everything really well (brake parts cleaner is good for this) and see where the leak is coming from. Certainly, there are other parts it could leak from.
Also, is the leak on the driver's side (probably power steering) or the passenger side (probably the hydraulic fan system)? The fan, the steering, and the transmission all use the same fluid (but they don't share it).

Is there one on the front part of the pump? Everything is just so cramped down there so I came to see if the problem was already found before I actually did any inspecting. Mine is on the power steering side, I converted mine to an electric fan, bought my converter from "oddball" a while back.

Alright. So power steering fluid leaking from driver side. I have gone through probably $75 worth of fluid since I haven't had the appropriate amount of time or space to get the car jacked up and get a better look to take my own picture. I looked at the piece that was leaking when it was up on the rack about 5 months or so ago when I had my brakes done. This is what I remembering what it looks like. But from a different angle. Though looking at all the above pictures I can't get my bearings as to where this is on the car precisely (as shown circle in red) ----continued below this picture----


I was looking at the piece standing under the car looking towards to front of the car and this piece is located and viewable from the general spot where the green arrow is pointing.


Is this the part that is mentioned above and would be needed to be replaced to solve this issue?

Ummmm.... YES! Got a call from my wife that her LS was on fire! Fortunately she was pulling into a parking lot and someone yelled at her to shut it off and, believe it or not, the only damage was smoke marks; which buffed right out!!!!

Mine was a hose. Apparently it was laying on on an exhaust part and the heat burned through. How the hose made contact with the exhaust is beyond me.....

I'm just going to get it. I'm sure it is the same piece. It looks the same. I know right where its at. Just can't get my bearings in the picture. Its only $27 anyways.
