V6 to V8 engine swap

Guy on other site says he just bought a 2000 LS that was a V6 and someone put a V8 3.9L in. I kinda call BS on this. Anyone?
 
We all know that it could happen....
But the thing is,... Why would they do it?
It's not like the old mustangs where the notch back mustang
Is lighter than the hatch back so they did motor swaps.
To my understanding the lses are the same weight other than
The weight of the motor and the tranny.
To me I think it might be bs just for the simple fact that is they
Don't have a cause to do it and that would be a decent amount
Of money to do something like that. Unless they did it themselves.
But still to do a motor swap and a computer swap as well. And if they built
It up like a high output motor..
 
Anything is possible. IMO that would be a giant waste of time and money.
 
Its not just engine swap you have to swap trans too. Then there is Cats, fuel lines, harness, CPU. How many other things not off top of head? He was told it was swapped. All stock.
 
Not a waste of money if you pick up a wrecked ls with all the stuff you need to swap with the engine for like $500.

I dont think it was done. Specially since they done it stock.
I've done plenty motor/tranny swaps but I've not done it
On a LS yet.
But I think it's crap.
The guy who bought it and run the VIN to see if it was actually
Built a "v6" or was it built as a "v8" from the factory.
Just to see if the guy who told him he did the swap
Is full of poop.

O.K guys here i am. I did not do the swap myself i was told at the dealer ship it had been done. This is the vin on the car and mabey one of you guys can tell me if it is true.

I bought a 2000 lincoln ls about a month ago, it has been in the shop since. I test drove the car and it seemed ok but on the way home the check trans light came on and where the gear indicator is came up with an 'E''. I took it to the dealer ship and they cleaned up some of the wireing since the car had an engine swap from a v6 to a v8. once they cleaned up some of the wireing they were able to get some codes from the computer.0795 i think and some others. they said it could be a number of things. They realy didn;t seem to want to work on it. I took it to Mr. Transsmision and they said it neeeded a rebuild, 2700 dollars, fine fix it. They rebuilt the trans and replaced the solinoid pack. it is still doing the same thing. drives fine for about 10 mins then the check trans light comes on and doesn't want to shift into 4 5 gears. I told them i am not paying a dime untill it is fixed.\
Any sugestions??????????????
 
Well i did a little googleing , and it apears that it did infact come with a v8. That is good news i think. Now just gotta figure out what is going on with the trans. My faith in the lincoln dealership is lost......

I think thats good news, but why did you take the car to the dealer and then to Mr. transmission?? sorry I hate that place they should refund your full amount you spent there since they didnt fix the problem.

There is lots of info on here about the "E" issue.

Now the question is why all the loose/weird wiring? Something else is going on here and we all know the LSes (and I would assume all new highly electrical vehicles) sensitivity to electrical load.

Well the motor had been changed ,I think it was done in some ones shed.:confused: There had been some crappy splicing and messy work the dealer said they fixed most of that so they could get codes from the pcu. They first told me i needed a new pcu for a v8 since the car came with a v6. I puchased a used one from the junk yard, they never ended up using it. They dealer charged me 760.00 to tell me they could try this or that at about 500 dollars a pop but it may or may not fix anything. so i opted to take it to a trans shop.:(

Hmm I wouldnt go back there either if they couldn't find out.
Have you checked the solenoid on the tranny?

They replaced the solenoid and rebuilt the trans. The car is still there, I told him i'm not paying or picking it up till its fixed. He says he's gonna get some electrcal guy to come and take a look. I can't believe he wanted me to pick it up and pay for when it still has the same problem....
 
wow sorry hear this is happening to you. If youre spending all this money to get it fixed, i hope you at least got the car for a like 200 hundred bucks, shiiiiitttt

I would bet the farm it's just bad wiring. my LS showed the same symptoms when some of the wires on the main harness we're chewed up. E on the dash, pcu acting up.

if you his the status button on your console what does the message center say?

troubleshooting the harness is a pita, I just bought a parts car and used it's on mine.
 
If i hit the status button everythink comes up as O.K.
What harness did you replace ? just the ones from the trans to the cpu??????

Wait. Someone did an engine swap from a V6 to a V8 and you have a message center? The V6 didn't come with the message center nor the sensors to utilize one. If the car has the message center it must have been a V8 to start. Maybe someone did a straight-up V8 to V8 engine swap and screwed up the electronics/wiring.
