Hello, I was wanting some input on putting a vinyl roof on the LS. I was thinking about the full top. Do you guys think that it would be a good thing to do or what? And also, where could I purchase the kit or accessories?

please no.

Lincoln actually sent the dealers a memo asking them not to do this - the LS is not a smaller town car - it is a luxury sports car that was targeted against the BMW 5 series. You do not see a BMW with a vinyl top - right?

I've thought about that, but about doing it old school. Not a fake convertible top, just a vinyl top. Throw some chrome trim along the base of the C-pillars and you have a winner. I do not have the guts to do this to my car, though...

pleasssssseeeeeeeeee nooooooo.

I'll say this....if you want to destroy the look of the LS put the vinyl top on it. This car is NOT a baby Town Car!! I remember at the last LLSOC Mania event in Dearborn that one of the Lincoln executives said about the vinyl tops the dealers put on the LS. He said and I quote "I'll personally kick the Sales Manager and Dealer Owner's a$$ if I ever hear of them putting the vinyl top on the LS. It was never meant for that trash and whoever puts one on their LS is a bigger piece of trash." end quote. He was DEAD serious when he said this. He was one of the developers of the LS and was very adament about it.

Please DO NOT do this to your LS.

There's a thread somewhere on this site that has a pic of an LS with a vinyl top. I don't think there's anything else you could do that would make the LS look worse. I remember thinking that it was one of the worst looking cars I'd seen.

if you want old school - buy a caddie - float around town, bang with the gang, ...etc but do not do this to your LS.

A vinyl top is not the same thing as a fake convertible top.

....a blue vinyl on a white LS and didn't looked disgusting. think about it seriously before u do it.

Theres a beige LS with a ground effects and a red carriage roof driving around my end of town. It's the uglest thing I've ever seen. Please don't consider this. I laugh every time I see this car.

Yeah I have seen one and like you I chuckle when I see it. I have seen one or two in sarasota as well. Not a good look at all this is not the car for that.

It might look ok if you got the little dangly fuzzy fringe around the perimeter of the headliner like in the Cheech and Chong movies, some gold 20 inch spokes, hydrolics, and dont forget the spare tire bolted to the outside of the trunk.
Second thought, the spare might mess up the air flow from the two foot tall aluminum spoiler so scratch that.

OMG!! too funny man... Oh and don't forget the curb finders in the front and the back.. ROFL

We should be ashamed. I know I am, picking on the newb.

It’s your car and if you feel it needs a vinyl top then I’m sure you won’t be the first to try it.

:W
This is a great site with plenty of awesome guys (people). Each with their own opinions and we sure don’t mind giving them so don’t take it personally.
:Beer
By the way, if you haven’t been persuaded that the vinyl is a BAD idea, pleeeeease post pics of the final product so we can all enjoy.

If you decide to do it, just place your address under it and the hours you will be home :F

haha just kidding,
DON'T DO IT

I'm not a big Elvis fan... but for some reason, this pops to mind... "And his momma cries, In the ghetto.... in the ghetto..."

If you want to totally trash the resale value of the car, this would be the way to do it...
