alright this kid i work with has a jetta 1.8T 2001 has a chip 3" turbo back straight exhaust with injecters upgrade donno how big. wants to race me i have 80mm mafs and sc chip straight pipe stock exhuast u think i can win with a roll?>??

With a roll u will probably win up to about 100, then he will blow by you. If you race him from a stop he will probably kill you. There are some local guys around here with some mildly built 1.8t GTI's that are crazy fast. Power to weight ratio is much larger with a car like that.

Well look at it this way, stock 1.8t 7.7sec to 8.3sec 0 to 60 standard, automatic and 15.2 and 15.4 in the quarter......

My buddy has the EXACT same build 1.8 like to the point and i have a 93 with z3w2 or w/e it is PCM and I smoked him from dead stop to 120mph like i was 4-5 cars ahead. And I spun to second gear.

just go out and race him from a stop and see what happens its
always fun even if you lose

If you run different tire sizes you can pretty much even them out. It looks stupid, but I`ve seen that done also.

In low traction environs, it is fine to run different ratios(the tires can slip to take the strain off of the drivetrain.)

Some mud runners say the front spinning faster is a good thing in a pit. But you go and try to do that on the street.......transfer case chains, and pinion gears are the fastest things to go.

all in all,

Not a good idea.

i've also heard of guys running a shorter gear in the front so that it turns easier. Wouldn't try it myself, but.....

If he has a Chip say goodnight man, a chip in a turbo car can add 40+HP like NOTHING!! I'd say from a dig or a roll he will win easily, dont think cause you got a V8 you are faster lol. His car probably has 200ish HP to the wheels and is what like 3200lbs?

If you had 4.30 gears you'd EASILY walk (not run away from) him all day long, our cars make no power till 4,000 rpms so stock gears SUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

I have a 97 explorer v8 awd and I read that changing the tire size would toast the t-case and uneven air pressure in the damn tires can do it too! Again, mine is full time awd..... and his is 4wd so.....???

here's my $0.02 ... if you had your mouth going about how super fast your Mark VIII is ... and that it can take all the ricers in town .... and giving him crap about his POS ...

Well if you lose ... you'll be eating it for a while ....

Looking at your acceleration in your video he will probably walk you and badly if his car is set up for the mods.

I bought it that way, and i use my 4x4 a lot I always find my self in ditches or towing someone.

See I'm one of those people that goes by this in winter,

Snow+rwd=drift/stuck+4x4=win

I say do a 30 roll and go from there but by the looks of the vid and the mods listed for him he's in that 200 whp range.... its like trying to race a stock 99- gt 5 speed...... which I had to learn the hard way isn't easy to accomplise from a stop but 60 pretty damn even until about 90 then he pulled a couple cars after
