Hello everybody How are things out there? Hope someone can help with my problem. My 98 mark is leaking when it rains on the inside pass front carpet.I have no idea where it is coming from and have no idea where to start looking for the leak.Any advice on where to look or how to fix this problem ? Thanks for help.

Remove pass. side wiper blade from shaft and remove the cowl cover. Place a piece of self stick weatherstrip about .25 inch from the bottom of the windshield. Start about .25" away from the passenger side of the windshield and go towards the driver's side for about 10-12". I ended up taking the dash out of mine trying to chase down this leak and just happened to find that.

if you want to fix it correctly, do what is said above but instead of sticking stuff to the windshield, fix the problem. your problem is under the pass side of the wiper cowel, there is a fresh air cabin duct about 4 x 6 inches with a screen in the center of it, you cannot miss it. get some outdoor durable weather caulking and reseal the base of the duct to the fire wall of the car. i have fixed tons of these, usually you can grab it with you hand and slightly pull it toward the front of the car and the back side will lift up, the factory seam sealer gets old and cracks over the years and when it rains the water dumps in through the crack. its actually a pretty simple job. gettin gthe wiper arms off with the hood on the car is a much different story though!!!

Wow! thanks guys for the fast reply.I will try and do what I was told in your threads.Hope to fix it in a couple of days. Thanks Again

thats usually the tell tale sign of the cabin ducts leaking too, because the vent is on the pass side, under the windshield, and if parked at an angle or on a slight hill the water wont run down through the fender or engine bay, it will run backwards towards the back of the firewall and pool up behind the cabin duct causing it to leak down inside the car.
