Weird Engine Ticking Noise. Need Help.

I am not sure what engine you have but if you go to this site...http://www.newfordparts.com/ they have them listed. I typed in your yr and searched "pulley" and they came up...V6 $50.26...V8 $87.28.

I had tried Max and a few other sites. I'm a little concerned that they list the V6 part when there were no V6s for the 2006 model year.
(Of course, it's not clear that they aren't on backorder at this place too.)

That is weird. I have ordered "obscure" parts through them and never had an isssue. List price is reasonable and customer service is great!

I just noticed a mild clicking/tapping sound a while ago. As Ford's injectors are notoriously loud I just figured that is what is causing the noise. I have absolutely no drivability issues.

I am hoping the same. The sound appears to be coming from the driver's side valve cover. I have to change my VCG's, so the cover will have to come off. Anything in particular I should look for while in there?

Oil in the plug wells. If any oil is found, change out that coil and the spark plug. When the valve covers are off, inspect the timing chain area for any cracks in the plastic parts. Look very carefully as this may show a sign of failing tensioners and guides.

This crank pulley sounds like maybe the right fix. I've had this sound forever and have been chasing it, nobody can find it and it does it intermittently enough that it's a huge pain in the ass. I'm going to get mine fixed and see if that does it.

I just have to say, this is the best forum I’ve come across. I’ve been reading it for years.I now have a tick coming from my drivers side 2000 v6, did you guys ever get to the bottom of where its coming from or what’s causing it ?? Any suggestions of where I should start first ??
