i went to the ford dealership to get an estimate on my window since i was driving the other day and it just fell down into the door 420 bux for parts and labor. also the brakes squeak after new break pads and the squeak in teh steering when i turn at low rates of speed is awesome. god bless my lincoln ls.

the windows regulator is something like $34 if you did it yourself.

it's not uncommon for new pads to squeak.

Which dealer did you take it to in Knoxville? I highly recommend you take it to Neill-Sandler FLM on Alcoa Hwy. See Jimmy Cox and tell I sent you. He will definitely take care of you.

treat the brakes nice for a few miles the squeak should go away.

i went to lance cunningham ford in knoxville,tn and he said it would 420 bux bc the regulator and window motor come together in a package and not seperate. also, i got the ford motorsports brake pad replacements and ive had them for roughly 2k miles.

Go buy a regulator from FLM tomorrow, make sure to buy just the window regulator. The regulator and motor are 2 separate pieces, despite what the dealership says. Put it in, it's not hard. There's a nice how to here http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=3922&highlight=window+regulator. Wear gloves or you will cut up your hand on the metal plate that everything is attached to. Learned by experience. Should only take about 30 mins to 1 hour for a first timer.

As far as the brakes, 2k2ls is right, just be easy on them for a little bit.

When I did my driver's door window, the regulator was $130 and did come with the motor - it was all one part. I will certainly admit I am not the greatest mechanic, but I'm no stranger to tearing cars apart and it took me way more than 30 minutes to 1 hour. It took many hours, much of it was spent staring into the door and looking at the Ford service manual on CDROM trying to figure out how to get it apart without breaking everything.

You can definately do it yourself, but I wouldn't start the project at 10 pm on a work night...

ok so the problem with the front end was the left and right knuckles. that was the squeaking sound when i turned the wheel at a low rate of speed. i did have to buy the motor and regulator but it was just 250 bux installed instead of the 420 at lance cunningham. i cant wait to see drive the lincoln now. i should have it tomorrow afternoon around 2-3.

Did you end up taking it to Lance Cunningham or elsewhere?

i took it to neil sandler and talked to your guy jimmy. they said that it was unsafe to drive as is so i told them to go ahead and fix it :p. meanwhile, i looked at the 2005 entertainment package and that mobile ease since i own a razr. its like 900 dollars to fix both knuckles is the price i was quoted.

The knuckles contain the ball joints and are just under $200 each. I replaced both of mine and it is an easy job. Easier than the valve cover gaskets or passenger side sway bar bushing. I keep meaning to finish up my article on it to send. I probably forgot how to do it now. :) I would agree though. If they are bad, you want to get those replaced in short order.

damn my cars been in the shop for like a day now and they say it wont be ready till tomorrow. sheesh i should probably ask if they are installing a supercharger.

If you have it at Neill-Sandler they are probably waiting on a part or it's taking longer than they expected. Did you talk to Jimmy directly?

no i talke to the girl that helped me and she said they were waiting on the ball joints. Kekeke my day off and i get to sit at home and do nothing since they didnt have a loaner.

Normally they give out loaners but if you just dropped in then that may have been the problem. When ever I need to go in for service I normally call Jimmy a day ahead of time to let him know I'll need a loaner to get to work or whatever. He typically gives me an LS which is nice. The last time I had loaner it was a 2004 LS. I took it home and took out the headlights and played around with the grille. I called it my experimental car. However, I don't recommend doing that but it's a good chance for me do some homework for future products.

Did you ever get a loaner car from Neill-Sandler? If not, call them back and tell them you need a car to get to work. They should help you out.

hurray for gettin your car back. the steering is completely different. its like i bought a new car or something it turns smooth with no noises hell even the brakes squeak less. it felt pretty good to go 120 on i40 east also :p
