What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

what kind did you go with?
---I have no experience with future ex wives or fixin their cars, just their houses...lucky for them they all escaped :p

I got this one:

It was cheap and I hope it will work. It looks just like the one I put in the Explorer when it died. And it's a 255LPH so it should be compatable. I'm just not looking forward to dropping that FULL tank of gas :(
---
kids see everything though, including how adults treat one another

Yep. That's one reason I'm trying to be as nice as I can to her. Especially when they're around.

.
wow, $45.......
when I did mine a couple weeks ago the tank was full, i siphoned it with an orange plastic pump from harbr freight, my drill, and a couple hoses...had to go directly into the tank, couldn't get there through the filler neck

I understand your point. And she will pay for my Exploder's fender and steering box and alignment when I get it all together. I just still have a hard time saying "no" to her . But I guess I'd better start doing it.
I understand, your are used to trying to make this woman happy.

I'm hoping that the Mustang FP is the last major repair I'll have to do for a while.
Its up to you, tell her were not together anymore fix your own car, or you will be stuck running to her aid, which will make the next babe very unhappy.
In a way I'm kinda glad the Exploder is out of commission for a while. That way, her irresponsible 22 year old son can't rag it out like he did the Explorer I gave him when he turned 18 and graduated high school  Because when she has it, even though I tell her not to let him drive it, she does anyway. So now nobody can drive it :D But anyhoo, I'm going to get it towed to where I'm staying (my Grandma's house) this weekend and it will stay there until it's fixed or until she moves out of my house, whichever comes first.
Been there...he is now 33 and does not remember one single thing I did for him.
If she is in your house, and your out, you are already paying.
Get a dam good lawyer one who does family law not a low dollar do everything suit and tie.
Fight for full or split physical custody.
You can play nice now for the "good of the kids" funny thing is, that is not what is best for them.
Your kids will pay the price in the long run if you don't fight for your rights now.
They need you as much as her no matter what crap some mediator spews at you.

Dont ask me how I know.

It is pay now or pay a lot later.

Good luck man, it sucks bad.

1) Met with a welder to discuss having some perches made for my coil convert
2) pulled the trigger and opened my wallet: new 1 1/8'' Addco rear sway bar from SCP...with shorter end links (#008) for the 1.5''-2'' lowered kit; I hope it's worth the 2 bills
---
Fix Or Repair Daily:
-used the key to unlock the pass door b/c the the power lock stopped working on that side, hopefully it's a mechanical and not electrical problem

Why don't you just find a member with a set laying around?

why? I drive a Mark VII, I'm a cheap :q
-- I already have isolators, this welder guy is an older retired fella- good old boy, he'll do just the tops for $25, or all 4 for $45 if i want bottoms...still not 100% sure on the design....plates with a centering stud and dog ears for the top perches, may need additional spacing?build up though
---
still undecided on whether I need perches for the coil bottoms..BlackIceLSC adamantly says they are not at all needed,: and those who make/sell em disagree
-- my brown car has gone w/out them so far...it's doing fine...

Gotcha, I assumed they would cost more having them made from scratch.

Theres a picture of how to make the upper "dog ear" (folded corners, stud in center) mount somewhere with dimensions ect. You might already have that from what you described.

No lower perch is needed, just the isolator. The coil conv kits didn't come with lower perches either so you should be good once their fab'd up.

Did you buy the reg isolators or the prothanes?

I don't quite understand what keeps the spring centered in the lower control arms with no perch on those kits since the lca has a large recessed area thats much bigger than the spring..its gotta make a hell of a racket with a steel spring rubbing on an aluminum control arm also.

my Strutmaster kit (on the brown car) has no lower isolator or lower perch and is not noisy; does it move? if it does it's not a problem
---
yea SBCaprice, most welders would have a base charge of 50-75 just for lighting the torch and go from there; this guy seems to be about 75 years old, retired and looking to stay active; I just gave him an isolator and described what I needed it to do; the main design uncertainty was what size/length bolt to use on top; I told him 7/16'' thick bolt or stud and about 1'' long, it will just stay in the female like the air shock did- if it's too long I'll grind it off, but I may need to build it up to get the right ride height
----
re; the bottoms; the oem bag just has those 4 little plastic tabs to hold it; they snapped off with a flat head quite easily... gravity+friction>momentum

Some people have used snowflake center caps for their springs lol. Pics somewhere around here.

i need 2 of long screw that hold on the door panel in the lower courtesy light.
any one have spares?

There's enough tension that lower perches aren't necessary. I think they're a waste of money on 90% on installs. What are they like $150-200?? Afaik, they WOULD make a diff in a high performance driving application though.

I however would not run it metal on metal, isolators are a must. .02

I just bought 4 of those for that purpose...I don't see how that's gonna work...maybe without isolators, but then it's only point of contact is the high point of the sloped upper surface

I'm pretty sure you'd have to insert a bolt through the high point of the center cap for it to work.

Yeah. This is true. I don't know why I'm still trying. I tried to make her happy for 10 years and it didn't work

Its up to you, tell her were not together anymore fix your own car, or you will be stuck running to her aid, which will make the next babe very unhappy.

That's the plan after I get the Mustang running. I'm not fixing anything else. I'm "cutting her off" so to speak. :D

I have a very good lawyer. She's been my lawyer for almost 20 years and she knows the situation. She's got all the legalities worked out as far as I can tell and as far as the actual written law is concerned, I'm not worried about her getting my house. In fact, when it's all said and done, she'll probably be paying me child support because I will more than likely have primary custody (that's what I'm going to ask for at least). And since the separation, I have made sure that I see my kids as often or more so than she does. She's in the process of looking for a house to rent so hopefully, she'll be out of my house soon. Anyhoo, I'm hoping it all works out in the end.

It is pay now or pay a lot later.

Good luck man, it sucks bad.

Thanks. I appreciate that. And yes, it does suck really bad.

On a brighter note, my Son surprised me and drove a 385 mile round trip to see my wife and I. My 93 just turned 171000 miles. I replaced the serpentine belt and idler pulley. Other than that, I couldn't find anything else to fix. I love my great 8's!!

That's awesome! I should have my oil filter adapter Monday. So hopefully my 8 will be back on the road soon.

Diesel Dan did the OFAD and oil pan last year. That damn car asks for nothing but gas and oil. The best $900 car I ever bought. Between my Son and I we have put about 45000 miles on it in 2 years. I probably have a grand total of about $2800 in it including the price I paid. Thanks again Jamie!
