What do we do for a living??

I give money to an instituition monthly in the hopes that my investment returns a comfortable yearly income that increases every so often until I retire. I'm even about to borrow money in order to finish the initial investment plan. Aside form that, between college semesters that is, my go to job is working for a Ford dealer (some other brands, but Ford is the biggest) as a lot attendant. I find, drive, park, and rearrange all the cars on the lot. I also go on swaps with other dealers and deliveries to customers up to 9 hours round trip (usually under 4 hours except for one very important commercial customer with one location 225 miles away). I've at least parked just about every car in the <20 year old and<$100,000 original MSRP range. I've driven more types of vehicles than I can remember. I also go out to events to represent the dealer group. Most importantly, I also pick up coffee for the bosses 1-3 times a day and they even buy mine for me.

Thanks. The job can be fun as hell. I get first grab at most of the fun, long, and/or expensive vehicle trips (most other attendants have been careless jerks that make it obvious why they're taking a summer/starter job at age 25+). I also frequently do test drives and even work with a few customers here and there because I actually enjoy it and know more about the cars than half the salespeople. I learned how to really drive stick 2 hours away from work in an early '14 Grabber Blue Mustang GT early in my first summer there, I drove 50 miles in one of our first '15 Roushes on summer tires as snow began falling, went on a test drive with one of the owners of CarCash, and even came to appreciate the Porsche Panamera (for it's driving characteristics, still can't stand its hunchback look).

But for every fun moment, there's 5 dull moments and 4 grueling, tedious, or stressful moments when I just have too much to do.

It also has no future outside of the dealership, which is why I'm still in school and not a salesman (though my boss is always asking for the trifecta of drop out of school, break up with my long term girlfriend, and become a dedicated, lifeless salesman). But it pays quite a bit more than most of my friends' non-internship summer jobs and is a lot more flexible. I also get 50% off labor and get parts at-cost which makes for a substantial bonus.
